Rock & Roam - Bouldering & Rope Climbing Trip #2

Fri, Aug 21, 11:00 AM
From London Climbing Meetup Group
4.8

Hello climbers, We will be running a few trips this summer, both Bouldering and Rope Climbing for the weekend! What to expect from a Rock & Roam Trip? A normal climbing day starts with breakfast at the accommodation before we head out to the crag together! When we arrive we’ll do a safety briefing, warm up properly, and then spend the morning climbing. We’ll stop for lunch, then carry on climbing in the afternoon before heading back to the accommodation. In the evening, we’ll have dinner together, which might mean eating out, cooking a communal meal, or doing our own thing depending on what the group prefers. After that it’s chill out time - games, chats, and relaxing after a big day outside! Dates: Trip #1 : Fri 10th Jul - Sun 12th Jul Trip #2 : Fri 21st Aug - Sun 23rd Aug Trip #3 : Fri 11th Sept - Sun 13th Sept How much does it cost and what's included? All trips are £210 per person, which includes your weekend accommodation, climbing instruction, coaching, use of group climbing equipment, and support throughout the weekend. Travel and food aren’t included, so you’ll need to cover your own transport to and from the Peak District, plus meals and snacks. We’ll help coordinate lift sharing where possible and chat as a group about food plans closer to the trip, whether that’s cooking together, eating out, or a bit of both! If you are interested in any of our upcoming trips, please fill out the enquiry form below and we will get right back to you! But be quick, we have limited spaces! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe8kQFuZQNaXtHwlAxvB4GpkBkzxivFrr-eUJ-xPh95KR4ZTA/viewform You can also visit our website below for more details! https://sites.google.com/view/rockandroam/home?authuser=0 Hope to see you out there soon!

⛰️ Hiking Snowdon – The Highest Mountain in Wales (Final Trip of the Season)

Sat, Oct 10, 5:45 AM
From London Social Hiking
4.8

################# **Join us for our final Snowdonia trip of 2026 and conquer Snowdon – the highest peak in Wales (1,085m)! We'll travel by private minibus, so places are limited to 14 – book early.** **We’ve created a list of [FAQs](https://drive.google.com/file/d/12gIZWTLfA3zQsx1fb0lpv1zOWP2vC5tq/view?usp=drive_link) to help answer your questions.** ################# Spend a weekend in North Wales enjoying some of the best mountain and coastal scenery Wales has to offer! Departing London early on Saturday morning, we'll head to **Snowdon – the highest mountain in Wales**, at an elevation of 1085 metres above sea level. Starting from **Pen-y-Pass mountain pass**, we'll climb Snowdon via the **Pyg Track**, which offers one of the most popular and scenic routes to the summit. On our way, we'll enjoy exceptional views of the beautiful **glacial lakes of Llyn Llydaw and Glaslyn**, dramatic cliffs and the surrounding peaks of the Snowdon Massif mountain range. The descent is via the **Miners' Track**. It's so called as it was originally built to serve the Britannia Copper Mine on the slopes of Snowdon. After an initial steep descent, we'll follow an easy and gradual downhill path along the shores of beautiful lakes, past the historic mine buildings. After the hike, we'll drive to our hotel on the Isle of Anglesey, where we'll have dinner and rest. On Sunday, we'll explore one of the most scenic stretches of the **Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path**. After a hearty breakfast at our hotel, we'll take a short drive to the **South Stack Cliffs Nature Reserve**. We'll follow a dramatic clifftop trail to the small rocky islands of South Stack and North Stack, and visit the South Stack Lighthouse – one of Wales' most photographed lighthouses. During this walk, we'll also ascend **Holyhead Mountain**, the highest point of the Isle of Anglesey. Despite its small height of 220 metres, it has a true mountain feel and offers stunning panoramic views over the bustling Holyhead Harbour and Snowdonia mountains. Our hike will finish at the beautiful sandy beach of Porth Dafarch, from where we'll head to Trearddur Bay for lunch. **ITINERARY** **Saturday:** **06:45** Meet outside Hotel Novotel London West, 1 Shortlands, W6 8DR (a five-minute walk from Hammersmith Station) **07:00** Sharp departure **12:30-18:30** Hike to Snowdon via the Pyg and Miners' Tracks (difficulty: [Difficult](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BMjvqhAAdSeCdyzLPHs0z04_e2TiKdci/view?usp=sharing), distance: 12km, ascent: 810m) **19:30** Check-in at Premier Inn Holyhead Hotel on the Isle of Anglesey, dinner and free time **Sunday:** **07:00** Breakfast **08:00** Departure **08:15-12:45** Clifftop hike to the islands of South Stack and North Stack via Holyhead Mountain and the South Stack Lighthouse (difficulty: [Moderate](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BMjvqhAAdSeCdyzLPHs0z04_e2TiKdci/view?usp=sharing), distance: 12km, ascent: 330m) **13:00-14:30** Lunch at the award-winning Trearddur Bay Beach, free time by the sea **14:30** Departure **21:00** London, Hammersmith **DIFFICULTY & EQUIPMENT** Please note that this trip requires a good level of fitness. Frequently asked questions

Canyoneering is an exciting outdoor activity that involves exploring canyons through techniques such as walking, climbing, and rappelling. It's an adventurous way to connect with nature and test your limits.

Yes, Meetup offers groups specifically focused on canyoneering in and around London. You can join these groups to find upcoming events, meet fellow canyoneering enthusiasts, and explore breathtaking landscapes.

To join a canyoneering group in London, simply search for 'canyoneering' on the Meetup platform. Browse the available groups, and join the ones that suit your interests and schedule. Membership is usually free or low-cost.

It's essential to prepare adequately for canyoneering events by bringing appropriate gear like helmets, harnesses, and sturdy shoes. Water, snacks, and weather-appropriate clothing are also recommended. Check with the event organizer for specific recommendations.

Experience requirements vary depending on the event. Many groups offer beginner-friendly canyoneering events where basic skills can be learned and practiced, while others might cater to more experienced adventurers.

Yes, once you're familiar with the activity and Meetup platform, you can organize canyoneering events by establishing your own group or suggesting events within an existing one. This allows you to connect with like-minded adventurers looking for similar experiences.

RSVPing for a canyoneering event is easy. Simply navigate to the event page on Meetup, click 'Join' or 'RSVP', and follow any prompts provided. You'll then receive updates about event details and changes.

Most canyoneering activities are in-person as they require interaction with natural landscapes. However, some groups might host virtual sessions or discussions about techniques and safety on Meetup.

While London itself may not have natural canyons, specific Meetup groups organize beginner-friendly trips to suitable locations outside the city. The accessibility varies depending on group arrangements and event specifics.

Joining a Meetup group can be free; however, certain events may have participation fees to cover equipment or transport costs. Always check event pages for any applicable fees, and decide accordingly.

Meetup offers both free and paid membership plans. Basic interaction such as joining groups and RSVP to events is free, but organizing groups or attending certain premium events might incur a fee.

While Meetup provides a platform for organizing events, safety is the responsibility of the group organizer and participants. It's crucial to assess safety guidelines and preparedness details before attending an event.

While large canyons are not common near London, Meetup groups often plan outings to accessible ones within a reasonable traveling distance. Engaging with these groups can help secure transport solutions as well.

Meetup does not offer insurance for activities. It's wise for participants to have their own insurance coverage for outdoor and adventure events like canyoneering.

Meetup's focus is on group activities rather than professional training. Some group events may teach basic skills, but for comprehensive training, seek professional courses outside the platform.
