Sat, Oct 3, 9:00 AM
From London Documentary Network
4.6

**NOTE: Kick off location will be announced closer to the event and will be in a Zone 1 location with easy transport links!** Doc in a Day is a **filmmaking challenge** where participants **create short documentary films in 36 hours.** This is about learning through practice in a friendly and fun environment. We aim to screen all of the films submitted, where you can catch up with the other participants and documentary film professionals give feedback on each film, announcing a winner and runner-up. Prize: \- The winning film you've made :\) \- The winning official crest/laurel to add to your film and promotion \- The new friends and industry contacts you would have made *\* We also usually organise a visit to a documentary production company for the winning teams, so they can pitch an idea and gain industry insights. **But at the moment this is not guaranteed,** it would be a bonus - we're currently trying to source a company to visit.* *** WHY 'DOC IN A DAY'? * Create a short doc, build your portfolio * Make meaningful industry contacts * Get feedback and learn from experienced professionals * Improve your skills and practise with new kit * Have a blast collaborating with like-minded people *** HOW THE COMPETITION WORKS Saturday 10:00 – Gather to network and **create teams.** Come alone, with a friend or a ready-made crew! Our organisers also help form teams. 11:00 – We pull a **theme** from a hat (also published here, in the event WhatsApp group, Instagram and Facebook). Recent examples include 'Truth', 'Change' and 'Thrill'. 11.01 – **Go, go, go!** Get planning, shooting and editing your films. Sunday 23:00 – Deadline for submissions (via a dedicated WeTransfer link) Around a week or two later 19:00 – ***Screening event***, where you can catchup with the other participants and documentary film professionals give feedback on each film, announcing a winner and runner up. *** ENTRY COST £20 early bird (recommended as limited spaces available) £25 on the day The cost covers both the competition and the screening event. *** Some people come to this competition with years of experience and professional equipment; others make their very first doc this weekend. Past and present organisers of the event even give it go. **Doc in a Day is designed for EVERYONE!** You can watch all the previous Doc in a Day films on our [Youtube channel](https://bit.ly/2Pw7afo). Spanish Film Festival: Los Domingos

Spanish Film Festival: Los Domingos

Fri, Sep 18, 7:15 PM
From UK European Club
4.7

Let's go to the London Spanish film festival at Cine Lumiere! The movie is 'Los domingos' in Spanish and Basque with English subtitles. Directed by Alauda Ruiz de Azúa, ***Los domingos*** (*Sundays*) emerged as one of the most critically acclaimed Spanish films of the 2025–2026 awards season. The drama swept several major ceremonies, taking home top honours across best film, directing, writing, and acting categories. https://londonspanishfilmfestival.com/los-domingos/ Please buy your ticket (£16) before RSVP'ing YES to this event. Sundays tells the story of Ainara, a bright and idealistic 17-year-old facing what should be a straightforward decision: choosing a university degree. At least, that’s what her family expects. Instead, Ainara reveals that she feels increasingly drawn to God and is considering entering a cloistered convent. Her unexpected announcement shocks the family, opening a deep emotional divide and putting each of them to the test. A poignant and beautifully observed drama, Sundays is a profound reflection on faith, family, and the deeply human need to believe in something greater than ourselves. We'll meet at 8.15pm at Cine Lumiere. We'll make our way to our seat at 8.25. My seat is H11. After the movie, we will go for drinks at the Hoop & Toy pub near South Kensington station. ⚠️No-Show Policy: The Club is run by dedicated volunteers, whose time is important and whose efforts towards keeping the Club active must be respected. If you don't show up to three events that you have RSVPed to, you may be banned from the Club. Always update your RSVP if you're no longer attending please.
