**Join us for an exciting Art Exhibition hosted by the Black Art Enthusiasts Collective.** **This is not a free event details on how to purchase tickets below.** **Hurvin Anderson:** [Hurvin Anderson’s](https://www.tate.org.uk/art/artists/hurvin-anderson-12583) first major solo show brings together more than 80 of his vibrant paintings, spanning the artist’s entire career, from his days as a student to new, never-before-seen paintings. Through colour-drenched landscapes and interiors, Anderson meanders back and forth across the Atlantic, between the UK and the Caribbean. The youngest of eight children, he was the first to be born in the UK after his family left Jamaica for Birmingham in the 1960s. As a result, Anderson’s work reflects on his experiences of belonging and diaspora. After exploring the exhibition we will have a discussion after. Anish Kapoor - Art Exhibition

Welcome to the very first gathering of **Independent Artists of London**! This inaugural event is all about getting to know one another in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Whether you're a painter, illustrator, sculptor, printmaker, photographer, digital artist, curator, designer, or simply someone passionate about the arts, you're warmly invited to join us. Our aim is to build a supportive community of independent artists across London—sharing ideas, experiences, opportunities, and inspiration. There is no formal agenda; this is a chance to introduce yourself, meet fellow creatives, exchange contacts, and help shape the future of the group together. During the evening we'll discuss: * Who we are and our artistic practices. * What we'd like this community to become. * Ideas for future meet-ups, exhibitions, gallery visits, workshops, and collaborations. * Ways we can support one another as independent artists. British Museum: Europe 1800-1900 Gallery + pub social

**Unlike our regular events, this event has no attendee limit and we visit just ONE gallery in the British Museum.** **How does it work?: We meet and greet in the British Museum Court cafe first. Then we explore one room in the museum for 45 minutes - this is NOT a guided tour of the room, and you're free to wander around at your own pace. Then we head to the pub!** **THIS MONTH WE'RE VISITING THE EUROPE 1800-1900 GALLERY (ROOM 47)** The 19th century saw unprecedented economic growth in Europe, accompanied by immense social and political upheavals. For Britain, the 19th century was a period of stability and industrial supremacy. On the continent, France underwent three revolutions, while the second half of the century saw the unification of Germany and Italy. The nationalist sentiment that lay behind these events often paid homage to the great ages of the past. This is reflected in the objects shown in Room 47, many of which have borrowed motifs from earlier historical periods. During this period, international exhibitions fostered the growth of machine technology, yet traditional craftsmanship flourished alongside. **Read more** **[here](https://www.britishmuseum.org/collection/galleries/europe-1800-1900).** **A Dracula Daily fan?:** Bram Stoker used the British Museum Reading Room to investigate maps, travel accounts, and folklore regarding Transylvania to write Dracula in 1897. In the opening chapter of Dracula, protagonist Jonathan Harker visits the British Museum library to research Transylvanian geography and Castle Dracula before his fateful journey. R is for Richard Dadd, Beyond Bedlam at Royal Academy of Arts

★ ★ ★ ★ *“ethereal, profoundly sad beauty”* (The Guardian) ★ ★ ★ ★ *“intricate and profoundly eccentric”* (The Telegraph) **Join us at the Royal Academy of Arts for the Richard Dadd, Beyond Bedlam exhibition.** The highly original works of Victorian artist Richard Dadd, best known for his fairy paintings, draw upon literature, legend and memory to portray elaborate worlds that radiate imaginative power. The first years of Richard Dadd's life promised the conventional success of a highly talented British artist. The young Dadd was a student of the Royal Academy Schools and founding member of a group of artist-friends known as the Clique. In the early 1840s Dadd was already establishing himself as a painter of Shakespearean fairy scenes when he embarked on an ambitious trip across the Eastern Mediterranean that would inspire him for the rest of his life. On his return to Britain, Dadd began experiencing delusions, which led to him killing his father. Dadd spent the rest of his life as a patient in Bethlem and Broadmoor hospitals, where he was encouraged to continue producing oil paintings and watercolours of extraordinary delicacy and vividness. Despite Dadd's seclusion in the Victorian asylum system, he was able to draw upon his memory, imagination and abiding interest in literature and legends to render fantastical worlds replete with exquisite detail. These paintings and watercolours are among the most original and imaginative works in British art. Dadd's art was all but forgotten until it resurfaced in the 1960s and 70s. In the years since, his work has continued to inspire artists, writers and musicians, including the band Queen, who named a song after one of Dadd's most celebrated paintings, *The Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke*. Bringing together more than 100 works, this exhibition tells the story of Dadd's life and art, as radical and imaginative in his time as it is today. Friday evenings at the British Museum are an occasion for a wide range of events, including lectures, discussions, film screenings, special music and dance performances, many of which are related to current exhibitions. The British Museum's collection spans two million years, and includes cultural and historical exhibits from around the world. \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- Schedule 7 : Group meets to attend British Museum's monthly Late. 9-12 : The group progress to a nearby bar. Being in London's Russel Square, local bars benefit from the energy, intrigue and dynamism that comes with the Central location - with a scholarly feel, - thrown in for effect!
