We are in search of White Rabbit-style whimsies as July begins, in short, those high-summer sights and snacks that pay charming homage to Lewis Carroll's famous and fanciful Alice adventures. But you don't have to wear a pinafore, or even be named Alice, to make your way to a Chado Tea Room this summer to sip and sup upon a tea service inspired by the "Wonder"-filled yarns. The new [Chado in Wonderland Afternoon Tea](https://www.instagram.com/p/DaToPOfifBb/?img_index=1) just debuted, and, with it, a few tempting courses inspired by the colorful realm of the Caterpillar, Chesire Cat, and Queen of Hearts. The March Hare's Curried Chicken Tea Sandwich and Humpty Dumpty's Truffle Egg Brioche are two savory selections, while the Mad Hatter's Earl Grey Supreme is a brew-forward choice. Board Game Social - Clocktower for Newbs at Haven City Food Market

Board Game Social - Clocktower for Newbs at Haven City Food Market

Sat, Aug 15, 9:30 PM
From SoCal 20s, 30s and 40s Social Club
4.8

* **📅 Date:** Saturday, August 15 * **🕖 Time:** 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. * **🏨 Location:** Haven City Market – West Covina * **📍 Address:** 989 S. Glendora Ave., West Covina, CA 91790 * **💲 Cover Fee:** Free * **🚗 Parking:** Free parking is available, but please arrive early. **🚨 IMPORTANT PARKING & ARRIVAL INFORMATION** Please arrive early before the event. Haven City Market can get very crowded around 2:30 p.m., so finding parking may take some time. I strongly recommend arriving at approximately **1:30 p.m.** so you have enough time to find parking before we play board games. If the nearby parking areas are full, you may need to park farther away on the surrounding residential streets. Depending on where you find parking, the walk to Haven City Market could be approximately **30 minutes**. Please plan accordingly and give yourself plenty of extra time to find parking and arrive before the event begins. Join us for an afternoon of *Blood on the Clocktower*, an immersive social deduction game filled with mystery, strategy, conversation, bluffing, and deception. Each player receives a secret character and joins either the good team or the evil team. The good team must gather information, compare clues, and identify the Demon before it is too late. Meanwhile, the evil team must create confusion, spread misinformation, and remain hidden. Unlike many social deduction games, death does not remove you from the experience. Even after your character dies, you may continue participating in discussions, sharing theories, and helping your team pursue victory. *Blood on the Clocktower* features more than 300 characters, but this event will focus on **Trouble Brewing**, the introductory script designed specifically for newer players. It uses approachable characters and mechanics that make it an excellent starting point for anyone learning the game. No previous experience is required. Before the game begins, the organizers will explain the rules, character abilities, nominations, voting, and other important mechanics. Depending on attendance and available time, we may run more than one game of Trouble Brewing. **⏰ Attendance Expectations** * Please arrive on time. The rules explanation, character distribution, and game setup will begin promptly at 2:30 p.m. * If you are no longer able to attend, please update your RSVP at least 24 hours before the event. * Cancellations made within the 24-hour window, as well as unexcused absences, may result in permanent removal from the group. * In the event of a genuine emergency, please notify the organizers as soon as reasonably possible. * Repeated unexcused absences or repeated last-minute emergency notices may also result in permanent removal. **🤝 Code of Conduct** Please treat every participant with courtesy and respect. Deception, bluffing, suspicion, and accusations are part of the game, but personal attacks, hostile behavior, excessive shouting, bullying, or aggressive accusations directed at another participant are not acceptable. Please remember that this is a game. Whether you win or lose, everyone is expected to help create a welcoming, enjoyable, and respectful experience for both new and returning players. **“Kill with grace, and die with dignity.”** **🚪 IMPORTANT HOTEL ACCESS INFORMATION** * **The Courtyard Marriott lobby doors close at 8:30 p.m.** * If you expect to arrive after **8:30 p.m.**, please plan accordingly and make sure you are inside the hotel before the lobby doors close. * **Late arrivals may not be able to enter through the main lobby doors after 8:30 p.m.**
