Every day, pigeons in San Francisco suffer from a hidden danger: string, fishing line, hair, and other debris that wrap tightly around their toes and feet, causing immense pain, infections, and sometimes the loss of entire limbs. During this event, we'll teach you how to safely spot, catch, and help these incredible birds before releasing them back to their families and flocks. We'll also be carrying food and toys to share with companion animals belonging to our unhoused neighbors because compassion doesn't stop with one species. This event is about building a kinder city for all animals. Whether you're a lifelong animal advocate or simply someone who wants to make a difference, this is your chance to turn empathy into action. Miranda’s “no-kill rescue” in Humboldt County has been exposed for shooting hundreds of dogs and burying them in mass graves. For over 20 years, Jennifer Raymond has been trying to hold the “rescue” accountable. Her concerns were ignored until she and her friend, Jenna Moore, snuck onto the property and dug up the bodies of eight freshly-killed dogs. This heart-wrenching situation is still unfolding and at this Meetup we will hear from Jennifer about her experiences and the history of her efforts to expose Mirandas. Sunday Kickball @ Bushrod Park!

BASS presents our favorite event, kickball! We will be at our normal spot in the East Bay at Bushrod Park in Oakland! Bring your soccer cleats (for better grip on the field), sunscreen, and athletic wear and water for a fun time out! For those who haven't played kickball before, the rules will be explained and demonstrated before we start. Depending on the attendance, we'll either have 2 teams facing off or a rotation of 3 teams all together. Then after we may hit the local pizza/bar scene if everyone still wants to hang out. We have a HARD START at 1pm, so please be sure to show up on time for warmups! (We also nearly lost the field previously because not enough people were there on time) See you there soon! 🔴 Note: Please, please, please don’t no show. 🙏 It makes these events really difficult to plan. 🌺 **Dahlia Dell, Dahlia Show & Thai Lunch — Golden Gate Park** 🔆 In late summer, the Dahlia Dell in Golden Gate Park becomes one of the most quietly spectacular spots in San Francisco. Hundreds of dahlia varieties bloom in terraced beds — deep reds, purples, oranges, soft pinks — in sizes ranging from tiny pompons to blooms as wide as a dinner plate. Join me for a leisurely stroll to savor the Dahlia Dell in peak bloom. From there, it's a five-minute walk to the Hall of Flowers, where growers from across California will bring their finest blooms to the annual Dahlia Show. Ribbons are awarded for Best in Show, People's Choice, Best Arrangement, Nature's Oddities, and more. After taking in the prize-winning flowers, we'll head to an early lunch of Thai fare. ▪︎ **PLEASE BRING CASH** for your lunch! They will not give us separate checks. ▪︎ **Meet at 10:00 am sharp** at the western entrance to the Dahlia Dell (near the Conservatory of Flowers.) ▪︎ **To get there:** **If driving**, look for street parking in the Inner Sunset, near 9th Ave, and walk to the Dahlia Dell. (There's no time limit for street parking on Sundays.) **On Muni**, the N-Judah stops at 9th Ave & Irving, a block from the park entrance. ▪︎ **PLEASE don't be a no-show.** If your plans change, remember to update your RSVP prior to the event. ▪︎ **A last minute cancellation** will count as a no-show.
