Lacy Park** **\- Leaving at 6:00 pm Promptly** **\- Bathroom Break as we head out** **\- Continue with the Inner and Outer Loop walk** **\- After the Loops\, then exploring the surrounding San Marino neighborhood\.** **\- This will be a 10K Walk – About 6\.2\-5 miles** **\- 2 Hours or so Walk** **\- 8:00 pm \- Returning to Lacy Park** **WHAT TO BRING;** **\- Water** **\- A Warm Jacket for Chilly Nights** **\- Flash Lite** **\- Bug Spray** **\- Snacks if needed** **\- Good walking shoes** **\- Comfortable walking clothes** **\- A bright Jacket for the Dark days** **LISTEN, THERE'S MORE;** **Goal: A STRONG LIKE-MINDED TOGETHERNESS!** \* We will Establish Togethereness \* We will Bring about a Strong Awareness \* We will Establish a Strong National Presence \* We will Be Active and Responsible \* We will Always Think as a Like-Minded Group \* We will Put our Health and Wellbeing First \* We are a Pack-Family **\* We will Gather and Walk with Harmony** I know—10,000 steps might not sound like a lot, but for those of us who sit at desks or stand in one place all day, it's not always easy to hit that goal. And while 15,000 or 20,000 steps would be great, they also require more time. So to make it fun and manageable, we’re starting with 10k steps as a challenge—and we may increase the goal in future events. **THE IMPORTANT POINTS ARE THESE;** Space is limited, so **please RSVP only if you’re 100% sure you’ll attend.** 🙏🏾If you RSVP and don’t show, you will be 🚩Red Flagged 🚩for future events—we all appreciate reliability and respect for others' abilities to get a spot to walk!🙏🏾 Expect to hit somewhere between **10,000–12,000 steps (approximately 7.5-9 miles),** depending on the pace and group. Please avoid parking inside the park lot, as the gates may close before we finish our walk.** **Park closes at dusk so I strongly advise against parking inside any of the lots. Tue, Jul 14, 2:00 AM**🏛️ WHAT'S PRACTICAL PHILOSOPHY ABOUT?** Practical Philosophy is a weekly meet-up that brings critical thinkers together for an opportunity to dive deep on a topic, practice communicating, and building a community. All with no ‘official’ philosophy knowledge required! 😎 Practical Philosophy is based on the idea that philosophy should be accessible to all, and not something reserved only for academics. Each week we choose a topic, and the goal is to use the conversation to develop our critical thinking and communication as we explore that topic. The goal is to help develop our Critical Thinking, Communication, and Community 🙌 📓 **HOW DOES IT WORK?** Each week, we pick one topic and discuss it. The topic for the week is shared, generally in the [Whatsapp group](https://tally.so/r/EkNAll), along with jump-off points to get the conversation going. If the group gets bigger than 10-15 people, we will consider breaking into smaller groups. This way we are able to maintain a conversational flow and ensure everyone has a chance to participate. **General Meeting Agenda** Each Practical Philosophy begins at 7:00p and follows this general timeline: * 7:00-7:15 - People arrive and chat, get to know each other before the ‘official' start. * 7:15-7:25 - Explanation of Practical Philosophy and the topic for the week, review the discussion guidelines so attendees know what to expect. * 7:25-8:45 - Main discussion on the selected topic - allow the conversation to evolve organically and/or use the ‘jump-off’ questions as prompts to guide the conversation. It’s not obligatory to answer them. * 8:45-9:00 - Wrap up and closing thoughts. Organizer concludes the meeting and everyone takes a group photo. * 9:00 - The official meeting is over but it’s a great opportunity to get to know people in a non-structured environment, so we often stick around, chat, and get to know each other. **🧧PRICING?** Practical Philosophy Club is FREE to attend! To support our venue, we ask that you buy a beverage/snack. Some chapters rent a space for us to meet, and they may ask for donations to help contribute to the cost. No preparation is necessary. This isn’t a study of other thinkers. We want to know what YOU think about the topic, not what an old philosopher thought. If you have a perspective from a religion or a school of thought to share, throw it on the table and we’ll discuss it, but it's not required. * Is there a specific philosophy that Practical Philosophy is focused on? The goal of our meet-ups is to not have dogmatic discussions, and flex our critical thinking muscles. Because of this, we want to hear from every realm of thought, and don't study a particular school. * Can I come alone? Of course you can, we encourage it :) * Can I be late? Please don't be! We do have a 15 minute grace period where we allow people to funnel in while we hang out, but after that if you arrive too late, it disrupts the flow of the conversation. * Where do you meet? Jaden and Marvin will wait near the front desk for attendees to arrive. Camping Road Trip @ Grand Teton & Yellowstone
Mon, Jul 13, 4:00 PMHappy Father's Day to all the good dads, step-dads, paternal guardians & foster parents, etc. I'm currently in Denver this weekend, and yesterday, we stopped by Rocky Mountain National Park for a quick drive / visit, and it was so nostalgic to be out in nature again (after a 3 year absence). Another group member messaged me yesterday regarding 4th of July weekend, so I'm sorry I've procrastinated so long in posting something. - My apologies this is short notice... I'm planning on going to Glacier National Park in Montana between July 3 - 10. If I can get everything ready in time, I might go to a Canadian National Park called Waterton Lakes National Park around July 1 - 2. I'm perfectly fine with going solo...I need the peace and quiet after working with kids and volunteering with kids throughout the country. Plus, it's really short / late notice, so I don't anticipate anyone else joining for Glacier.
