Goodbye to Summer -- Ferry trip to Angel Island

If not, come with us to take a **ferry** trip to the Angel Island state park, in the **middle** of the bay, in this coming Sat. Aug 29th. We have crossed long distance since then, walked in most of the major events and parades in the city, and volunteered in many: The Chinese New Year, Cherry Blossom, the Carnaval, the Pride, North Beach, Fillmore Jazz, Nihonmachi Japantown, Stern Grove, etc. etc.. Also the local festivals, the state park volunteering, and the local Golden Hour walks ... It is a time to look back, it is also more a time to look **forward**. At the turn of the season, we would like to invite our alumni, who have attended our events, and those who are interested in our future activities, to go with us, to take ferry together to visit the beautiful Angel Island at the center of the bay. There are a few options to spend the day on the island, there is around the island walk trail, there is a hike up Mt. Livermore, you can also visit the historic Immigrant jail on the island. We will discuss and decide on the ferry. Two schedules: **Full** **hike**: 12:15pm ferry detour via Tiburon, then take the Tiburon to Angel Island ferry. Arrive at Angel Island at 1:30pm cost $40. Leave enough time to hike up Mt. Livermore. Book the Angel Island Tiburon Ferry in advance to reserve your seat. How to create a city builder game

Project introduction In this tutorial we’ll be creating a playable city builder game with javascript and WebGl. We will start with some basic game concepts, like rendering a dot, and making it perform a random walk around the screen, moving onto more complex ideas, including several meta heuristic algorithms commonly used to simulate behaviors such as traffic, distribution of wealth among citizens, and their consumption of various resources such as food, water, and power. A few examples of these algorithims are Ant Colony Optimization Algorithms (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ant_colony_optimization_algorithms) The code its self will only be lightly covered, though if you follow along (or download the source code at the provided link), it will run. More fundamentally I will be explaining the core logical components involved in creating a simulation style game. I will be writing most parts of the tutorial in a compile to JavaScript language called sibilant (https://sibilant.org/), because this is what I find makes me the most productive. This language sticks to javascript semantics in most places, but with a different syntax. I will frequently be showing the outputted JS to make sure no one gets lost in syntax though. In order to get the most out of this tutorial, you should have at least: a basic understanding of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
