Alemany Farm Native Plant Volunteer Day

Everyone, young or old, experienced or still learning, is welcome to join our California Native Plant workdays on the **first Monday and third Saturday of each month.** [Registration](https://www.eventbrite.com/e/alemany-farm-native-plant-volunteer-day-registration-155900126475) is required in advance\*\*. *\*\*Please only sign up for what you can 100% commit to and let us know ASAP if you do not plan to attend so we can open your space to someone on the waitlist.* Please plan to **arrive on time at the start of the work session.** **Volunteers will be required to sign a waiver upon arrival.** **Each person in your party** (including children) must be signed up **Bring a mask:** Masks are recommended when working closely with others. **What to bring\* --** we will provide all of the tools you need. If you prefer to bring your own gloves, hori hori, or clippers, please do so. * Mask or face covering * Water Bottle * Hat * Sturdy Shoes * Jacket with layered clothing underneath * Sunscreen * Snacks \*Travel light! The farm is an open public space and we have no secure storage for bags. Leave valuables at home and be mindful of your personal belongings, as you would in any park setting. **COVID-19 Precautions:** * We will have a hand washing station, hand sanitizer, and clean gloves available * Please do not come to Alemany Farm if you develop COVID-19 symptoms on or before the day of your volunteer shift (fever, chills, repeated shaking/shivering, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, feeling unusually weak or fatigued, new loss of taste or smell, muscle pain, headache, runny or congested nose, or diarrhea) * Please do not sign up for a volunteer shift if you are unwilling or unable to adhere to the above guidelines. SF Repair Cafe Volunteering

A San Francisco Repair Café is hosting its first event on Sunday, September 13, where neighbors bring broken or well-loved items to be repaired instead of thrown away. It’s a fun way to reduce waste, share skills, and build community. You don’t have to be a repair expert to volunteer! Any skills are appreciated—sewing, jewelry repair, arts & crafts, electrical, mechanical, baking treats for volunteers and guests, or simply helping with check-in, setup, event support, and teardown. Help restore native plant habitat in the Inner Sunset district for the rare Coastal Green Hairstreak butterfly. Folks who join these workdays help create and expand the ecosystem for this little green gem of a pollinator. We emphasize biodiverse and ecologically relevant plants, and you will get to learn about many of our important native plant species. Be ready for activities like weeding, planting, seed collecting, pruning, and other land maintenance tasks. We often work in light rain, but heavy rain cancels. Please dress in long pants, closed-toe shoes, and layers - clothes that might get a little dirty! Bring your own water bottle and sun protection. Celebrate California's Biodiversity with us!

**Help celebrate California's biodiversity and help inform the state's [30x30 initiative](https://www.californianature.ca.gov/) by taking a closer look at nearby nature and documenting your finds on iNaturalist!** **Join our habitat restoration event at a beautiful San Francisco haven for native beach dune plants, the Balboa Natural Area. See how nature can rebound if given the chance! This neglected plot of land was restored by SF Rec and Park and now is home to a diverse array of plants and animals. We will be working to protect the area from invasives.** **Tools and gloves provided, water and snacks served at the end of the work party.** **We will also be participating in the iNaturalist biodiversity challenge where we'll be looking to find 30 species. Habitat Restoration at Glen Canyon

**Glen Canyon** Learn from SF Rec & Park staff naturalists about the ecology of the canyon while helping to preserve its diverse habitats. We will be restoring portions of Islais Creek, riparian, scrub, or grassland communities Meet us across the creek from Glenridge Cooperative Nursery, 1500 feet (approx. 7-minute walk) north of the Glen Canyon Recreation Center.
