BROMPTOBERFEST East Bay: El Cerrito to Temescal Brewing

BROMPTOBERFEST East Bay: El Cerrito to Temescal Brewing

Sun, Sep 20, 5:45 PM
From Brompton San Francisco Bay Area
4.9

Join us for the inaugural **BROMPTOBERFEST** — *ja!* 🍺🥨 Dust off your lederhosen, dirndls, or just your favorite Brompton (traditional attire enthusiastically encouraged, never required). We'll kick off this new East Bay tradition with a proper German-inspired adventure. Starting at **El Cerrito Plaza BART**, we'll roll south — no *schnell* required — to pick up some delicious **Squabisch Pretzels** to fuel the remaining miles. From there we'll cruise the sights (and yes, occasionally the smells) of the Bay Trail along the waterfront, stop for a few *wunderbar* photo opportunities, and continue to the Emeryville Marina before turning inland. Our journey concludes at **Temescal Brewing**, whose very Brompton-friendly courtyard will be pouring Oktoberfest Festbier with UTMOST PRECISION alongside plenty of other beverages and food options. Whether you're celebrating with a Festbier, a sparkling water, or something in between, we'll raise a cheerful **"Prost!"** to good company, folding bikes, and the beginning of what we hope becomes an annual tradition. The ride will be **gemütlich**--**Keiner bleibt zurück** (**comfortably social--no-drop**), and suitable for riders of all experience levels. So grab a pretzel, ring your Brompton bell, and join us for a delightfully un-serious ride with just enough German flair to make everyone smile. *Allez! Auf geht's!* **View the route at this link**: [https://ridewithgps.com/routes/56552512](https://ridewithgps.com/routes/56552512) **Route description**: The route is a point A to point B across flat bike lanes and bike paths from El Cerrito Plaza BART to Temescal Brewing in Oakland, which is close to MacArthur BART **Ride level**: Chill / Relaxed Pace: 16 kph / 10 mph Distance: 8.7 Miles There will be two stops and breaks for one brief but steep climb in Fort Mason Park. Everyone is extremely welcome & no one will be left behind. **Our Community Rules:** 1. Be kind. Welcome and encourage other riders. Insults, shaming, and hate will be removed, and offenders will be banned. 2. Your safety is your responsibility. Helmets are required. Lights are required if riding in darkness. It is each rider’s responsibility to ensure their bike is clean, well-maintained, and fully functional. 3. All bikes are welcome. Occasional Brompton-only events will be clearly labeled. Contact your local Brompton dealer if you'd like to borrow a Brompton for an event (participation may vary). 4. If your plans change, please update your RSVP. **Hello Ocean Lovers,** Let's meet up go for a Green Exercise Wellness Hike at Lands End Trail, meet new friends and get a good workout together. Enjoy Ocean air and Healing Sea for our physical Health and Mental well-being Lands End Trail is a favorite among both locals and visitors alike! This trail explores the historic Sutro Baths and offers great views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Pacific Ocean. A must see for any visitor to San Francisco. **Lands End San Francisco** The Coastal Trail at Lands End in San Francisco is a gorgeous spot for hiking, but most visitors to the city don't know it's there. Early History San Francisco was originally inhabited by the Ohlone Indians. An archeological site at Lands End was dated at 150 A.D., but there is evidence that Indians had been living in San Francisco for around 3,000 years. They had seasonal camps where the Sutro Baths ruins are now, eating seafood and hunting seals; archeologists found their garbage dumps, more politely known as middens. Hiking the Lands End Trail The Lands End Coastal Trail is walkway that starts just above the Cliff House, then winds in and out of the woods and along the edge of the bluffs, and ends in a ritzy residential area (Sea Cliff) near China Beach. Lands End Trail The way down is quite steep, but there is a stairway to follow. It's a small, rocky beach, good for relaxing and watching the breaking waves, but too rough (and cold) for swimming. Mile Rock Beach Another branch of the same path will take you down to the mini-beach, Mile Rock Beach, at the foot of Lands End Point. Mile Rock Beach-Tiny, but cool! It secluded the beach at the entrance to San Francisco Bay, a scene of many shipwrecks, but a pretty detour off the gorgeous. **Meet at 1:30pm** and **Hike time: 2pm** Great Highway & John F Kennedy Drive, San Francisco, CA 94121 GPS: https://goo.gl/maps/YYgxvPfbS9h6bfX9A across from the Beach Chalet Brewery at beach side parking lot We'll be at the beach side parking lot Parking: Free Level: Level: Moderate Challenging!
