Join me for 3 day weekend where you can car camp, hike or backpack to the famous Deep Creek Hot springs. Dogwood camp ground is a popular Campground in the San Bernardino mountains. This event is limited to only 8 people and two cars per day and 3 tents on site. We will be there Friday to Monday. This means 3 nights or 4 days. Hiking schedule: We are going to hike on Friday evening 3 miles loop around the Camground. This is easy. With the option of potluck. Saturday hike will be 5-6 hard miles to Deep Creek. We might backpack to Deep creek over night depending of the weather. Sunday we will hike to Arrowhead pinnacles Trail 4.6 miles this is rated moderate. If we’re not too tired, we can check out the town of Arrowhead. Monday will check out and head it back home. What to bring: own food and gear Carpool is encourage. Bring cash: we will share the camp fee reservation. $20 per night per person or $50 per the 3 nights per person. What your $ covers: camp reservation fee and the holiday fee, campfire, & hot coco. Please sing up if you are sure you are coming. Everyone will be put on the waiting list first then will be chosen according to attendance. Priority to strong hikers/ backpackers. No respond or no comments will be drop automatically. This way will allow to others to join. You can join us for one night or two. Or backpack only. If you are backpacking only meet us at the trail head out of 173 highway. You can leave your car at Bradford Ridge path. This is the option 2 out of 3 to get there. “The Bradford Ridge Route (Free Alternative) Distance: About 5 to 6 miles round-trip. Access: Park near the end of CA Highway 173 (near Lake Arrowhead/Twin Peaks). You will climb over the guardrail to access the Bradford Ridge Path. Details: This route doesn't require a fee but involves a longer, more rigorous hike with about 1,400 feet of elevation gain. It requires crossing over into the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) before descending into the canyon. “ If you had read all the information go right ahead and sing up. Stay cool on our bicycle ride on the beach bike path from Marina del Rey to Redondo Beach. There's always a cool breeze at the beach, so come and get some exercise. E-bikes are welcome too! This beautiful beach bike ride is 26 miles roundtrip on flat bike paths and roads. LUNCHTIME FIRE WORKSHOP SURVIVAL, BUSHCRAFT, SELF-RELIANCE! Primitive skills are very popular, and the ability to make fire without matches is at the top of the list. We will practice a few of the primitive methods of fire-starting methods, and you will learn some of the secrets that come from years of experience. You will get to practice the bow drill, the hand drill, flint and steel, and more. We will also go for a short walk (if time) so you can see the types of woods that are best for making fire, and the tinders that are best for getting your fire to light. And enjoyable gathering. Bring a bowl and water. And yes, you will learn about a few wild plants at this class as well. Location sent when you register — most likely Hahamongna. Please register to attend and for location. Hahamonga Watershed County Park is our field office, the class may be in a different location.

Culver City Park to Kenneth Hahn Loop

Well, it's supposed to cool down by Sunday. Keeping my fingers crossed. We meet at 8:20 and leave at 8:30 sharp. The hike is about 6 miles and the elevation about 1000 feet. The entrance to the park is at the intersection of Jefferson Blvd. and Duquesne Ave in Culver City. At the intersection, go south on Duquesne. You will be going uphill. Go to the stop sign and make a left. Go up the hill and make another left (you have no other choice). You will wind around a baseball field on your left. Go to the parking lot just beyond it. That's where we will meet. By the way, there are plenty of restrooms on this hike.

SURVIVAL SKILLS, Friday, October 23, 7 p.m. Sponsored by Pasadena City College. Call (626) 585-7608 for information and registration. Cost is $49. The class topics include uses of wild plants for food and medicine, purifying and finding water, making fire with primitive and modern methods, natural navigation, finding fibre from natural sources and making cordage, emergency shelters, tools and weapons, and more.
