Join the Parliamentary Society of Toronto for a hands-on introduction to the rules that govern effective, fair meetings everywhere — from city council to your local condo board. Whether you're a community volunteer, a board member, a student, or just curious about how formal meetings actually work, this session is designed to be approachable for complete beginners while still offering value to those with some experience. **Society meetings cover:** 1. The basics of Robert's Rules of Order and The Standard Code of Parliamentary Procedure 1. How motions, amendments, and voting actually work 1. Common meeting scenarios and how to handle them The meeting takes the format of a real business meeting with an agenda , minutes, reports, a business session, etc. During each meeting some aspect of deliberative assemblies is highlighted in an educational essay.

This clinic focuses on the **5-1 offensive system**, helping players understand their individual responsibilities and how each position works together within the larger team structure. Sessions combine instruction, targeted drills, and game-like scenarios so you can learn not just **what to do, but when and why to do it**. **What You’ll Work On:** • **5-1 System:** Learn rotations, positional responsibilities, and how players move within the system • **Serve Receive:** Develop positioning, communication, and responsibilities within serve receive • **Transition Offense:** Learn how to move effectively from defence into attack • **Base Defense:** Understand defensive positioning and how to read developing plays • **Positional Development:** Improve timing, spacing, movement, and awareness within your position • **Decision Making:** Practice reading the play and making faster, more intentional decisions under pressure Drills are designed to simulate **game-like situations**, giving you opportunities to apply the system and tactical concepts in realistic scenarios. The focus is on playing **smart volleyball** — developing awareness, communication, positioning, and decision making rather than simply running through drills. **Who This Clinic Is For:** • Intermediate players with prior volleyball experience • Players who are currently playing or preparing to play in organized leagues • Players who have solid passing, setting, serving, and general gameplay fundamentals • Players looking to better understand team systems and tactical play **Please Note:** This clinic is **not recommended for beginners**. The Board Games event is a fun, sociable and charitable event We are a fun, friendly and kind group of people mostly in our 20s, 30s and 40s. Beginners are welcome! We are a very inclusive and social group and we teach people how to play games they have not played before :) We provide a variety of 40+ board games. The games usually take 5 or 10 minutes to learn and 30 to 60 minutes to play. Play in French: On the last Friday of the month, we're offering a table where the games are played in French. Anyone with an intermediate level of French who wants to practice while playing is welcome to join. Just ask for Philippe when you arrive. **Time** *Board Games Start time: 630pm - Board Games end time: 10pm *Eat / Drink/ Socialise at a nearby pub afterwards **Location** 30 Leeds St, Toronto, ON M6G 3R8 (Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Holy Protection) The entrance to the board game room is at the back of the Church. There is a sign on the door that says BOARD GAMES GROUP. Please use the map provided on the event page also. Payment **There are two ways to pay** **10 by Cash - coins are not accepted. Only bills.**** **11.55 by Debit/Credit card **Charity Donations** - This is a not-for-profit initiative. Revenue go towards covering costs of the event including venue, insurance marketing, refreshments and board games. Welcome to the Sunday meetup for Toronto Heavy Boardgamers @ Face-to-Face Games! The purpose of this event is to meet up to play heavier / longer board games, and have fun while doing it! We will start off small and if there is sufficient interest we will add capacity for future events. **Scheduling details:** \- If you have a specific game that you would like to post for\, feel free to do so in comments\. In your post\, include the name of the game\, number of players needed for the game\, whether you are offering a teach or not\, and the start time \(please try to start before noon if possible\)\. \- If you would like to join a specific game that has already been posted\, feel free to comment on it confirming your participation\. Make sure you have noted the details posted by the host\. \- You are of course also welcome to organize / join games onsite on the day itself\, assuming sufficient players / tables are available **Rules around COVID:** \- Given this is a public event\, we respectfully ask that only i\) fully vaccinated individuals\, and ii\) those not exhibiting any COVID symptoms\, participate\. This is a tentative event. The event time and day may be changed depending on weather. You must be able to play strong 3 hit volleyball and have good ball control. The event is $5 cash payment only. You will be teamed with others of the same skill level. Please note that you must know FULL beach rules. You MUST answer the RSVP question to play this event. If your answer is wrong or you do not answer then you will be removed from the event. The question or your response may not show up when using some apps so please RSVP from a computer. If you do not answer the question and provide this your RSVP will be removed Since this is a team sport event, the proper number of players is very important. RSVP changes less than 72 hrs before any event that is full/has waitlist or 48 hrs before any events not full will to be considered a late bail-out. Late bail outs or no shows will be assessed a "strike" 2 strikes and you will be suspended from participating in group events. PLEASE DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS LEVEL IF YOU ARE A RECREATIONAL PLAYER AND ARE NOT CAPABLE OF CONTROLLING THE BALL TO PASS, SET AND SPIKE. If the event is full, put yourself on the waiting list.
