The Board Games event is a fun, sociable and charitable event We are a fun, friendly and kind group of people mostly in our 20s, 30s and 40s. Beginners are welcome! We are a very inclusive and social group and we teach people how to play games they have not played before :) We provide a variety of 40+ board games. The games usually take 5 or 10 minutes to learn and 30 to 60 minutes to play. Play in French: On the last Friday of the month, we're offering a table where the games are played in French. Anyone with an intermediate level of French who wants to practice while playing is welcome to join. Just ask for Philippe when you arrive. **Time** *Board Games Start time: 630pm - Board Games end time: 10pm *Eat / Drink/ Socialise at a nearby pub afterwards **Location** 30 Leeds St, Toronto, ON M6G 3R8 (Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Holy Protection) The entrance to the board game room is at the back of the Church. There is a sign on the door that says BOARD GAMES GROUP. Please use the map provided on the event page also. Payment **There are two ways to pay** **10 by Cash - coins are not accepted. Only bills.**** **11.55 by Debit/Credit card **Charity Donations** - This is a not-for-profit initiative. Revenue go towards covering costs of the event including venue, insurance marketing, refreshments and board games. Any surplus revenue is donated to charity **Food and drink** *Everyone will get cookies/candy for free - Cups will be provided for tap water *Bring your own food and drink. - Please do not bring CHIPS AND CRACKERS as they make a mess and are greasy ***ALCOHOL IS PROHIBITED AND WE HAVE A ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY ON THIS - there are no second chances** Photos will be taken at the event and posted publicly for marketing purposes. Please only attend if you are ok with this or tell me when you arrive that you do not want to be in any photos The event is officially hosted by Ace of Math Learning Program Ontario Inc.

***TRIVIA NIGHT AT AXIS CAFE - MONDAY, AUGUST 24TH 2026*** ***$5 event fee + $5 minimum purchase (hopefully more) from the Axis Cafe.*** ***$3 from everyone's $5 event fee will go to the 1st place team.*** ***$2 from everyone's $5 event fee will go to the 2nd place team.*** ***For instance, if 25 play, the 1st place team gets to split $75 between them and the 2nd place team gets to split $50.*** ***Three*** ***other food voucher prizes from the Axis Cafe will be in play as well.*** ***TRIVIA QUESTIONS BEGIN AT APPROX 7:15 PM.*** ***The Axis Cafe, located minutes N of High Park, on Dundas St. West. There's lots of room and we will have most of the restaurant to ourselves.*** ***As always, we'll be able to set up multiple teams of 4-5 max per table. If possible, try to sit with other group members you've never met before. This way you'll be able to "meetup" with some possible new friends!! Monday Game Nights at LVLUP GAMES!

We invite you to join us to play games and socialize! **There is now a cut off for RSVPs. If you do not RSVP for an event on meetup, we cannot guarantee that we will have a seat available.** CAFE POLICIES 1. There is an entry fee of $6/person + tax for this event If you do not RSVP for the even by noon on the day of the event the price will be $8+ tax. 2. As a cafe we offer coffee and other beverage options. We would greatly appreciate that you not bring outside drinks into the store 3. We serve our own for and snacks and do not permit outside food and drink, except from the other businesses in the plaza to support our neighbouring small businesses 4. Be considerate of other guests when selecting games from our library and limit the number of games you bring back to each table to two (2) at a time 5. You are welcome to bring your own games to use in the cafe, but LVLUP GAMES is not responsible for lost, stolen, or otherwise damaged games/components Also as a general meet up rule, to be considerate to other guests. Since we have limited seating, it is of the utmost importance that if you plan on attending you sign up for the event. Likewise, if you are unable to make it, kindly mark that you will not be coming so your spot becomes available for another person. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. Modern Java Puzzlers

Since JDK 9, Java, as a language, has evolved faster than at any point in its 30-year history. For developers, this is great, as it means we get more new features that make our code more concise and, hopefully, easier to read and understand. All new language features also bring their quirks and possibly unseen consequences. In this fun interactive session, we’ll examine a range of recent language features and pose questions to the audience about how the code works and what it does. We’ll cover many of the new language features from recent releases, including switch expressions, sealed classes and pattern matching. The answers will most definitely not always be as you expect! **About the venue** Free Times Cafe has bistro-style seating and a full food and drink menu. Please consider helping to support the venue by planning to have supper during the talk. **Speaker Bio** Simon Ritter is the Deputy CTO of Azul Systems. Simon joined Sun Microsystems in 1996 and spent time working in both Java development and consultancy. He has been presenting Java technologies to developers since 1999 focusing on the core Java platform as well as client and embedded applications. Now at Azul Systems he continues to help people understand Java and Azul’s JVM products. He represents Azul on the JCP Executive Committee as well as the JSR Expert Groups for Java SE 9 and later.

We'll play in the food court of North York Centre. This is a public space so there is no cost, but please be kind to other people in the area.
