We will meet on the sidewalk just outside the main entrance to Greenwood Station on Linnsmore Cr. We will wander the streets as we admire the plants in yards, parks, and the in-betweens. The cost for this event will be $10. Bring 1 guest free of charge. Cash or e-transfer to daniellepellatthall@gmail.com can be paid upon arrival at the event. If things change and you can no longer attend, please make sure to change your RSVP to NO at least 2 HOURS before the event starts. Please and thank you. It is not enough to know the names of plants. This group gives you the opportunities to use those words and commit the plants to memory. Bring your plant and tree identification guide if you have one, and if you don't have one, the library is a great place to try some out. ROM Walks: Yorkville

There are many excellent **ROM Walks**--and this group attends ONE of them each year. ***FREE***--just show up at meeting spot. (ROM brings a number of excellent tour docents out for this) This charming walk takes us just a stone’s throw from the Museum into Yorkville, a market-tollgate village that originated in the early 1830s on what was then the outskirts of Toronto. Though fully absorbed into the city over time, Yorkville has retained a distinct character, the result of navigating decades of change while maintaining its unique identity. https://www.rom.on.ca/whats-on/events/romwalks-free-romwalk-yorkville-1 Our walk starts at the Yorkville Library, and continues to local landmarks such as the Firehall, the Heliconian Club, and Yorkville Park, before concluding at the Royal Ontario Museum. Along our route, we’ll see the evidence of Yorkville’s fascinating transformations—from its Victorian beginnings to the vibrant hippie scene of the 1960s, and on to the upscale residential and retail neighbourhood it is today. And remember, parting with a coin or two in Yorkville is not a new phenomenon. This is a lovely WALK--perhaps stopping at 20 locations throughout the community! The FIFA World Cup is coming to Toronto, and the city is celebrating in a uniquely Canadian way... with **52 giant beaver sculptures** hidden throughout the downtown core! Join us for **The Great Beaver Quest**, a fun and social walking adventure as we try to find as many of these public art installations as possible. We'll explore parts of downtown Toronto, take photos, compare discoveries, and see how many beavers we can track down together. Whether you're a huge soccer fan, a casual fan, or someone who couldn't tell a corner kick from a corner store, this is a fun way to be part of the World Cup excitement while exploring the city and meeting new people. This is not a race and there are no prizes (other than bragging rights 🦫), but we'll do our best to find as many beavers as possible during our adventure.
