🎬 Let’s Go to the Movies (and Actually Talk… or Not) Whether you're a film nerd, popcorn enthusiast, or just looking for a chill night out with interesting people — this one's for you. We’re heading out to see a movie together, then grabbing food or drinks after. If the film's great (or terrible), we’ll probably talk about it forever. If it’s just okay, we’ll talk about it for 10 minutes and move on to everything else — books, dating apps, weird dreams, how Toronto keeps getting more expensive, etc. The vibe is relaxed, friendly, and not too serious. No film degree needed. No icebreakers. No pressure to “perform.” Just come enjoy the film, connect with some thoughtful people, and see where the night goes Click here to watch trailer! 🎞️ **Movie Title + Trailer:** [\[Click here to watch trailer!\]](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEz5xbzYPKI) 📖 **📖 Plot Summary:** In Disney’s live-action adaptation of the beloved Oscar®-nominated animated adventure, Moana (Catherine Lagaʻaia) answers the Ocean’s call and, for the first time, voyages beyond the reef of her island of Motunui with the infamous demigod Maui (Dwayne Johnson) on an unforgettable journey to restore prosperity to her people. *** ### 🗓️ **Event Details** 📍 **Meetup Time:** 6:15 PM 🎬 **Movie Start Time:** 6:30pm.....I will only wait 5mins ⏱️ **Runtime:** 1hr55mins 📌 **Meetup Spot:** We will meet inside by the white stairs close to the Pickle Barrel before you go into Cineplex. Reclaiming our Human Future from Big Tech

Reclaiming our Human Future from Big Tech

Sat, Jul 18, 5:00 PM
From Luddite Society of Toronto

This is the inaugural meeting of the Luddite Society of Toronto. A group that seeks to fight for a future where we can live as human beings, not just as consumers of digital "content". Resisting the agenda of the most powerful, wealthy, and influential industry in the world is not easy. And it is not something any of us can do on our own. It is only by working together that we have a chance to make a change. This initial meeting will deal primarily with three discussion topics: 1. How to fight back against big tech's narrative of an "inevitable" digital future 2. How to cultivate healthier digital media consumption habits 3. How to engage with non-digital forms of art, craft, and entertainment All are welcome! We simply ask that you show kindness and courtesy, engage with others respectfully, and follow the rules given by the event moderator. Thank you!
