Mini Mill Class @ Ace
Sat, Aug 29, 8:00 PMThis class will cover the basics of using the small CNC milling machine at Ace. Each student will be given a part to fabricate, and will learn mounting, locating edges, using a fly cutter, drilling, pocketing and chamfering. Participants can take their piece with them and finish fabricating it in the shop at a later time. Note that we will be using the Mach 3 software to control the mill directly rather than a generated file. Jointer, Planer, Table Saw Basics & Certification @ Ace Makerspace
Sun, Sep 13, 5:00 PMThe Table Saw, Jointer, and Planer are core woodworking tools that are great for beginner and veteran woodworkers. This workshop goes over the core principles of using these tools in the Ace Workshop including certification. **Level:** Beginner **Timing:** 3.5 hours **Location:** Suite #214 Workshop **Corequisite:** Shop Basics **Certifications:** Jointer, Planner, and Table Saw **Age:** 16+ with parent or guardian also taking the class **What you will learn:** Learn how to safely operate the following tools in the Ace Workshop: * Table Saw * Jointer * Planer **What to bring:** A notebook or well-charged phone for taking notes. **What to wear:** Closed-toe shoes, short sleeves, and work clothes. Long hair must be tied back. **Safety Gear:** Eye protection, ear protection, and sanitizer will be provided. You can also bring your own. This class requires a minimum of 3 students per session. Thursday Night Trail Runs (Beginner & Intermediate)
Fri, Aug 28, 1:00 AMWe'll have 2 distance/pace group options for this run. Beginners will do a loop of 3-4 miles at a slower pace, and Intermediate runners can choose the 5-6 mile loop at a faster pace. **Distance:** 3-4 miles (Beginner), 5-6 miles (Intermediate) **Cumulative elevation gain:** 400-800 ft (Beginner), 800-1200 ft (Intermediate) **Avg. Pace:** 13+ min/mile (Beginner), 11+ min/mile (Intermediate) **Course:** Varies, but will generally be a loop with 1 good climb. **Terrain:** Hilly fire roads and singletrack. **Difficulty:** Moderate **Services:** Bathrooms at the parking lot (no running water). Bring water if you need it. **Drop/No-Drop:** This is a no-drop run - we'll stop and regroup at intersections and hilltops. **Directions:** From Hwy 101, take the Mill Valley Stinson Beach Hwy 1 exit. After the light, make a left onto Tennessee Valley Rd. Drive to the very end of Tennessee Valley Rd and park in the parking lot. Look for runners gathering near the picnic tables by the Tennessee Valley Trail gate.
