Judged by the trustees of the Art Gallery of NSW, the prize is awarded to the best portrait painting. Since 1921, it has highlighted figures from all walks of life, from famous faces to local heroes, reflecting back to us the stories of our times. This touring exhibition at SAM (only site in Victoria) is an opportunity to see the finalists in the *Archibald Prize 2026*. Travel by public transport is recommended as the event will include walks to/from Shepparton Station. Time to enjoy a pub lunch then a walk to the Museum for a 2PM entry (last entry is at 3 PM). SAM traces its history back to 1936. The current purpose built complex, sitting opposite the man made Lake Victoria on the main north/south route in the city, was opened in 2021. SAM holds over 4,000 artworks, including one of the largest ceramic art collections in Australia. **GRADE \| LENGTH \| TYPE**: Grade 1 - Easy and Social, 4 km in total via multiple walks on sealed paths (graded according to the **[AWTGS: Australian Walking Tracks Grading System](https://www.parks.vic.gov.au/things-to-do/hiking-and-bushwalking/choose-the-right-hike/how-walking-tracks-are-rated)**). **ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION**: Departing the train at Shepparton Station, we will walk some 7 minutes or 500 metres to the GV Hotel for lunch. Following lunch there will be a 22 minutes or 1.5 kms walk to SAM. The final walk will be via a different route of 20 minutes or 1.4 kms to Shepparton Railway Station to catch the final train back to Melbourne at 5:03 PM (arriving at Southern Cross at 7:39 PM). For 2026 there were 1,034 Archibald Prize entries from which 59 were selected for judgement and display. A total of 42 per cent of Archibald finalists were painted by first-time nominees. From the remainder, the S. H. Ervin Gallery at The Rocks in Sydney selected works for an alternative display called the Salon Des Refusés, which has existed since 1992. Archibald Prize 2026 is a timed-ticket exhibition, with entry at sixty-minute intervals on the hour until the last entry at 3pm. Adult entry is $24 (+47 cent fee), while Concession is $19 (+44 cent fee) (Humanitix system). Sketching at Bundoora Homestead

Hey Guys, For this event, we'll be sketching at Bundoora Homestead. A Queen Anne Federation styled, heritage home built in 1900 on Wurundjeri grounds by John Matthews and Vincent Smith. The property had previously served as a family home and repatriation facility before being refurbished as a public gallery in 2001. **Meetup Details:** We'll be meeting at the centre entrance at **11:00am** before making our way to the Cafe (adjacent to the exhibition entrance.) I've booked a table for 11 people. You guys can chill, draw, have something to eat/drink, and soak in the view of the Mansion gardens before viewing the exhibition upstairs. Or if you want, do it the other way around. *If you're looking to eat something substantial, I highly recommend having lunch beforehand as the cafe only serves light refreshments* **Public Transport and Parking:** **Route 86 tram** You can get off either at **Mt Cooper Dr** or **Greenwood Dr** to get to the homestead. **Mt Cooper Dr** (quicker route in my opinion) * Turn **Right onto Mt Cooper Dr** * Turn **Left at Boadle Rd** * Turn **Right on JV Smith Street (no through Road)** * **Walk Right on Snake Gully Dr** till you see a **wooden gate**, the main entrance is accessible from there. **Greenwood Dr:** * Turn Right onto Greenwood Dr and continue straight down the pathway near the cricket grounds till you see the homestead. **Parking:** * Parking is located directly in front of the venue and it's free :) Looking forward to meeting you guys there :)

Heide MoMA and Sculpture Gardens - SUNDAY WALK

**Heide Museum of Modern Art & Gardens** Our Sunday Walk this week takes us back to the beautiful Heide Sculpture Gardens and Park on the banks of the Yarra River. An integral part of Heide is its Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and the grounds featuring outdoor sculptures. With a long history as an artist's retreat and landscape gardens, Heide is a special place for a Sunday Walk. **Start**: Meet at Heide main entrance, off Templestowe Road, Bulleen. We'll meet at the large sculpture display outside the Gallery Shop at the entrance to MoMA. (see main picture here). Note the slightly later Start Time: **9.15 AM** **Parking:** Turn off Templestowe Rd and head for the Lower Carpark (follow signs). If this carpark is full, drive past and follow the road to Banksia Park where there's plenty of extra space, then walk back to the Kitchen. **The Walk**: We'll walk the gardens and parkland of the adjacent Banksia Park before heading back to the Kitchen Cafe for brunch. It's a slightly shorter walk than our usual (about 4 Km) but includes some hilly sections. **Toilets**: Throughout the Park and at the Kitchen area. **Coffee**: At the Heide Kitchen Cafe, where we can also enjoy brunch if you wish.

Street Photography - Entering the Frame

The theme for this street photography event in Melbourne CBD is to find one (or maybe two) locations with an interesting background and to wait for a subject to walk into the scene. **How this is going to work** We will move to 3 different spots in the city where we will allocate about 1.5 hours per spot and let you loose during that time. Find an interesting background and wait for a subject(s) to walk pass to photograph. We ask that you avoid wandering off too far as we will re-group before moving to our next location and do the same thing. I anticipate we will still run this event even if it's a bit wet - you can do photography in the rain. However if the weather is really wet - we may need to postpone. So please check this page the day before the event. **Draft Schedule** 10.00am - Meet in front of the State Library on Swanston St for a welcome and briefing. 10.15am - **Location 1** \- surrounding areas near the **State Library** to find your background. 11.15am - Re-group at the front of the State Library and move to **Location 2 (Bourke Mall - in front of Myer)** 11.30am - Explore around Bourke Mall and you could include Chinatown 12.45pm - Re-group at Bourke Mall in front of Myer and head to Federation Square for lunch at Time Out. 1.00pm - Lunch at Time Out (Federation Square) 2.15pm - Location 3 - Federation Square and it's surrounding area 3.30pm - Back to Time Out for coffee and cake 4.30pm - Event ends Look forward to having you join us at this event. Storytelling photography is the art of using single images or sequenced collections to spark curiosity, evoke emotion, and convey a narrative without relying on words * **Panning photography** at billycart race. Panning photography is a creative technique where you track a moving subject with your camera using a slow shutter speed to keep the main subject sharp while the background becomes a motion blur.
