Memento Mori in NYC - The Art of Japanese Life and Death

Memento Mori in NYC - The Art of Japanese Life and Death

Thu, Nov 5, 3:00 PM
From Memento Mori in NYC - The art of Japanese Life and Death

**What if thinking about death could help us live better?** Join us in New York City for a unique two-day cultural event exploring life, death, and the art of living through Japanese traditions, contemporary art, and cross-cultural conversations. Inspired by *Memento Mori* — the reminder that life is finite — this event invites us to look at death not as a taboo, but as an opportunity to celebrate life, deepen our connections, and discover what truly matters. ✨ **What to Expect** * **Art & Exhibition:** Discover Japanese perspectives on life, death, and remembrance through art. * **Talks & Conversations:** Explore how different cultures approach death, grief, and the meaning of life. * **Hands-on Workshops:** Experience Japanese traditions and creative practices, including calligraphy and mizuhiki crafts. * **Unique Experiences:** Step inside a Japanese coffin, experience meditation, and explore new ways of thinking about mortality. * **Community & Connection:** Meet curious minds, artists, death-care professionals, and people who believe that conversations about death belong in everyday life. Whether you're interested in Japanese culture, art, spirituality, wellness, or simply exploring life's big questions, you'll find a welcoming space to connect, reflect, and share ideas. You don't need to be an expert or have all the answers. Just bring your curiosity and an open mind. **📅 November 5–6, 2026** 📍 RESOBOX East Village, New York City Come curious. Leave inspired to live. 🎟️ **Ready to join us?** Explore the full program, discover special workshops, and get your tickets here: 👉 **Official Website:** [https://mementomori-nyc.com/](https://mementomori-nyc.com/) Come curious. Leave inspired to live. We look forward to meeting you in NYC!

Two extraordinary artists. One complicated creative partnership. A rare opportunity to see their stories side by side. **[Advance Purchase Required here](https://luma.com/KrasnerandPollockatmet)** Join us on **Saturday, November 14th** for an **[Art-full members-only](https://womenofculture.org/artfull-membership?utm_source=luma)** afternoon at **The Metropolitan Museum of Art**, where we’ll experience the highly anticipated[ ](https://www.metmuseum.org/exhibitions/krasner-and-pollock-past-continuous?utm_source=luma)***[Krasner and Pollock: Past Continuous](https://www.metmuseum.org/exhibitions/krasner-and-pollock-past-continuous?utm_source=luma)*** through an intimate, privately guided tour—preceded by an optional brunch at[ ](https://www.themarkrestaurantnyc.com/?utm_source=luma)**[The Mark Restaurant by Jean-Georges](https://www.themarkrestaurantnyc.com/?utm_source=luma)**. Bringing together more than **120 works**, the exhibition offers a fascinating new perspective on **Lee Krasner** and **Jackson Pollock**, moving beyond their famous marriage to reveal two ambitious artists constantly experimenting, evolving, and responding to the changing world around them. Pollock’s revolutionary approach made him an icon of Abstract Expressionism, while Krasner forged a compelling—and remarkably resilient—artistic path of her own. Seen together, their paintings, drawings and collages reveal unexpected connections, creative tensions and striking differences, while giving Krasner’s work the space and attention it has long deserved. With crowd favorite **Helen Lee** leading the conversation, we’ll go beyond the gallery labels to uncover the influences, turning points and artistic choices behind the work. Expect fresh perspectives, deeper context and plenty to discuss long after we leave the galleries. For those joining the full experience, we’ll begin over brunch at[ ](https://www.themarkrestaurantnyc.com/?utm_source=luma)**[The Mark Restaurant by Jean-Georges](https://www.themarkrestaurantnyc.com/?utm_source=luma)**, an elegant Upper East Side setting just moments from the museum—giving us time to connect, catch up and ease into an art-filled afternoon together. **Why you’ll love this:** * 🎨 Experience a major exhibition bringing **Krasner and Pollock** into conversation through more than 120 works * ✨ Go beyond the gallery labels with the insight and context of a **private expert guide** * 💗 Discover a fuller picture of **Lee Krasner’s powerful artistic legacy** beyond her relationship with Pollock * 🥂 Make a day of it with **brunch, art and great company** on the Upper East Side **Full** **Schedule** **12:00 PM \|** Brunch at[ The Mark Restaurant by Jean-Georges](https://www.themarkrestaurantnyc.com/?utm_source=luma) 25 E 77th St **1:50 PM \|** Meet for **2pm** Private Guided Tour The Metropolitan Museum of Art \| 1000 Fifth Avenue _____ **[Advance Purchase Required here](https://luma.com/KrasnerandPollockatmet)** **Tickets for** **Art-full Members**\* **Museum/Tour Only:** $75 first release \| $80 full price **Full Experience with Brunch:** $125 first release \| $130 full price \*\*Premier members receive an additional 20% off.
