Bodies Of Work: Figure Drawing

Join us for an evening of drawing from a live model. We're fascinated with how the body works, and we feel like you just might be too. We work with models who have a physical practice: boxers, climbers, dancers, lifters, athletes. Poses are directed to put the body's mechanics on display. This event is hosted by Dan Boterashvili of Harvest Strength Training, a personal trainer and visual artist, alongside Alexander Singer, community engagement professional and bartender. We will also be providing basic materials and a limited amount of drawing boards. **Every experience level welcome, first-timers welcomed.** **Doors open at 6:40pm. Poses run 7:00–9:30pm**, from short gestures to long holds. Stick around after to share work and meet other artists. Note: Doors will be kept open until 7:15. If for some reason you are delayed please reach out to @bodiesofworkdrawing on Instagram and we will come downstairs to let you in. We have a **STRICT NO PHOTO** policy while the model is posing. Keep your phones in your bag or keep them pointed away from the model. If you see someone photographing the model please inform either Dan or Alexander and we will handle it. Tickets are nonrefundable after purchase. If a session is canceled by Bodies of Work, ticket holders will be offered a refund or transfer to another session.

Portrait Drawing (3 sessions)

3 sessions \- Thursdays September 17\, 24\, & October 1 \| 6:30\-9:30pm In this course, students will learn the fundamentals of portrait drawing from the initial block-in stage to creating a final developed image. Katya will walk through the principles of beginning a portrait, followed by basic form rendering. We will be painting in Central Park under the guidance of a master artist! Please bring something to sit on (towel is fine). Bring your own materials (paint, charcoal, whatever gets you going) and work at your own pace. We'll stage the scene and leave you to it! Easels and desks available to use. Instructed Drawing Night at the Met

Instructed Drawing Night at the Met focuses on charcoal pencil drawing through close study of the museum’s Greek and Roman figure sculptures. Our instructor, Elizabeth Johnson, will guide students in developing technical control of charcoal pencils while working from these classical forms. After a brief demonstration, students will create charcoal drawings around the gallery with guidance from the instructor.
