NCOD Ribbon Cutting Volunteer Event

We are gearing up for the LGBT Network’s **[National Coming Out Campaign](https://lgbtnetwork.us7.list-manage.com/track/click?u=516a805b22127090e69b5fc41&id=e1111abbd6&e=109f5062a6)**, that engages communities to take a stand against the discrimination, violence, harassment, and bullying of LGBT people by coming out in support of safe spaces where they LIVE, LEARN, WORK, PLAY, and PRAY. People participate in the campaign by wearing a rainbow ribbon, a symbol of LGBT pride and history, as a way to visually “come out” in **support of safe spaces for LGBT people**. **You can help** us prepare for this important event by helping us cut ribbons – last year we cut and distributed more than 954,000 of rainbow and trans pride ribbon and this year, with your help, we intend to break that record. BRONX volunteers needed

Desert and food events for low income families in the Bronx, and other recipients that need help throughout NY. Every Thursday - Saturday during January and February. Welcome Tasters and Admin assistance. For your help, you will be treated too! RSVP via meetup for location and further information before spots fill up!

Helping the homeless to get off the streets this winter

Hello all, https://bowery.volunteerhub.com/vv2/ I was extremely saddened by this weekend's brutal killing of 4 homeless people in lower manhattan. I have contacted the Bowery mission to help and see what we can do as a community to provide food and shelter for the homeless. This is an endless effort. I encourage you all to helpout whenever, and whatever you have to get them off the streets, and to clean up the shelter and talk to the government to get programs incentives to allow landlords to use up their vacant space, even if its a few months for the winter. Many of you do not know that homeless people choose to be outside, because they don't feel safe in shelters. Or because of their illness that they do not want contact with people or helping themselves. Bowery mission helps manhattan folks - with shelter/ food/ clothing. Please help 1 at a time. IF you have other resourses to share or events to share, Please POST! Thanks all. Lisa, Thank you for reaching out. We were also stunned and heartbroken by this horrific attack. I truly admire the work that you do—I think the events of this weekend present a call for all of NYC’s nonprofits that deal with homelessness and its tangential issues to work together and form a unified front, so I am grateful for your interest and passion. ST. Lutheran's Church

THIS IS A REMINDER: members can sign up by calling the church and arrange to meet with other members. Every tues and Thurs, St Lutheran's church serve food to the needy in the neighborhood. Average 200 meals are served. 6 to 8 volunteers are needed. the meals are served between 1 to 2 pm. I understand this is the middle of the day. I will post this on first tues of every month to remind others. if you have the time pop in. Or bring donations k- every first monday of every month is Clothing bank.
