Join us for an exciting event where you can **put your words into action**! Toastmasters Berlin is hosting this **in-person event** at the **St. Lukas Church**. It's the perfect opportunity to enhance your public speaking skills, gain confidence, and connect with like-minded individuals. At Center Berlin Toastmasters, we believe in creating a supportive and encouraging environment for everyone. Whether you're a seasoned speaker or just starting out, you'll find a place to grow and improve your communication skills. Our experienced members will provide valuable feedback and guidance to help you become a more effective speaker. Don't miss this chance to **challenge yourself** and expand your horizons. Join us at the **St. Lukas Church** at 7:00 PM and let your words make an impact! **Agenda of the evening:** **Welcome and Introductions:** The Toastmaster of the Day (TMOD) often opens the meeting, who welcomes everyone and introduces the meeting's theme or agenda. The TMOD also introduces the key roles and functionaries for that session. **Prepared Speeches:** A significant portion of the meeting is dedicated to prepared speeches. Members working through various projects in the Toastmasters education program deliver speeches based on their chosen projects. Each speech is evaluated by a designated evaluator who provides feedback on strengths and areas for improvement. **Table Topics:** Table Topics is a segment where impromptu speaking skills are tested. The Table Topics Master presents a series of short, unprepared speaking challenges or questions, and members or guests are invited to come to the podium and give a brief, improvised response. **Evaluations:** Following the prepared speeches and Table Topics segment, evaluators provide constructive feedback to speakers. These evaluations focus on content, delivery, body language, and time management. The goal is to help speakers improve their speaking skills. **Reports and Functionary Roles:** The meeting may include various functionary roles, such as the Timer, Grammarian, Ah-Counter, and others, who report on their observations and contributions to the session. These roles help members improve their language and time management skills. **General Evaluator:** The General Evaluator provides an overall assessment of the meeting, highlighting what went well and offering suggestions for improvement. They may also evaluate the evaluators' performance. **Awards and Recognitions:** Toastmasters sessions often conclude with awards and recognitions, including the Best Speaker, Best Evaluator, and Best Table Topics Speaker. These awards encourage members to strive for excellence in their speaking and leadership abilities. **Closing:** The meeting concludes with closing remarks from the Toastmaster of the Day, who may express gratitude to participants and encourage them to continue their Toastmasters journey. **Networking and Socialising:** After the formal meeting, members and guests often have the opportunity to network, socialise, and discuss their experiences in a more relaxed setting. Special event with Anandagiri: The key to creating multidimensional impact
Sun, Oct 25, 6:00 PMJoin us for a special event with **Anandagiri, Sustainability Advisor, Project Director & Volunteer @ Lokaa Foundation,** to learn about Anilpuram - a sustainable world village, emerging in the South of India for the Yanadi indigenous tribe, bringing transformation and hope to 100+ families. The Yanadi community is a traditionally marginalized tribal group facing challenges like flooding, poor housing, and limited access to resources. Now, as part of the World Village Project, Lokaa Foundation is building a new, **fully sustainable home for and with this community.** The main philosophy behind the project is that **true sustainable development transcends the physical transformation of an area**; it requires a shift in mindset and priorities, where a deeper connection with oneself, others, and nature is nurtured. Creating an environment that fosters social, cultural, and ecological harmony. The village is built by using reclaimed, repurposed, and carefully engineered materials in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru. Construction debris is turning into the elements that hold the village together: 125 modular homes, a knowledge center, an experience center, community courtyards, and the essential infrastructure that will support the village for decades. A flagship project of this scale, built with this depth of sustainability and cultural respect, is truly one of its kind in the world. **About Anandagiri:** Anandagiri is a Sustainability Advisor, Project Director & Volunteer at Lokaa Foundation, as well as a senior faculty member at EKAM, India - a meditation school and ecosystem dedicated to transformation of human consciousness. Silent Reading Club
Sun, Oct 18, 9:00 AMDitch the old book club, where everyone has to read the same book...this is better! It works like this: Bring your own book. Come chat, have some tea or coffee, get to know your neighbors. Then we quietly read together, side by side, for about one hour, each one reading their own book, and afterwards we talk with each other about what we are reading. The usual agenda: - Arrival and introduction (~20 minutes) - Silent reading (~1 hour) - Discussion (~30-40 minutes) - Join us for a bite at a local restaurant afterwards, if you like! You may read in any language, you may read any book. We are a group of international residents of Berlin from many different countries, of all ages, and we converse in English. We welcome you! No registration needed – the event is donation based. All funds support the Offenes Wohnzimmer.
