Hello everyone! Come along for a relaxed surf session at Manly Beach! Enjoy some waves at your own pace, then grab a beer and a bite to eat afterwards if you feel like sticking around. Whether you're new to the group or have joined us before, you're welcome! **How it works** * Meet at Manly Beach (see meeting point below). * Have a quick chat and check the surf conditions before heading in. * Surf together at your own pace, and leave whenever you like. * Optional beer, food or a casual hangout afterwards. All levels are welcome, so don't worry if you're fairly new to surfing. Just choose waves that suit your ability and enjoy the session at your own pace. After the surf, we'll head somewhere nearby for a beer or some food. You're also welcome to stay at the beach, relax or keep surfing if you prefer. **When/Where** We'll meet by the pipes closest to the Corso (South Pipe) at **10:00am** If you need to hire a board, please get to the rental shop around **9:30am** so you can grab a board, change your wetsuit, and head over to meet us on time. **Who can join?** All levels are welcome, including beginners. Just be comfortable in the ocean and choose waves that suit your ability. **What to bring** You'll need a surfboard, leash, wetsuit, towel, sunscreen and water. If you do not have equipment, you can hire them at Manly Surfboards or other nearby rental shops. **Notes** * This is a community meetup, **not a surfing lesson or guided session.** * Everyone is responsible for their own safety and choosing conditions suitable for their ability. * Please respect surf etiquette and other beach users. * The event may be adjusted or postponed depending on surf and weather conditions. **Nepean Dam, via Bargo! Epic Adventure! 15KM** This is a fantastic out of Sydney adventure including the historic village of **Bargo**, then **Nepean Dam**, a **Sausage Sizzle** lunch and refreshments at historic **Bargo Hotel**! The walk sections are: 1. **Arrive Bargo Station**, morning tea 2. **Bargo Station to Nepean Dam;** Explore Dam, Free BBQ's and boiling water to use; 7.5KM. 3. **Nepean Dam to Bargo Hotel:** refreshment before train return to Sydney; 7.5KM. **NO SHOPS, SO MEMBERS MUST BRING FOOD!** **I ENCOURAGE MEMBERS TO BRING BBQ FOOD, AS THERE ARE EXCELLENT BBQ FACILTIES AT NEPEAN DAM.** We should be back in Sydney Central Station by 6:30PM. **Distance**: 15KM **Type of Walk:** Access roads and fire trails. **Difficulty**: Medium. **Walking Pace:** Average pace of 4.5/hr. **Meeting Place and Transport:** Catch the Macarthur Train **departing Central Station Platform 23 at 7:25AM,** arriving Campbeltown Platform 3 at 8:22AM. Catch the Southern Highlands train departing **Campbeltown Station Platform 3 at 8:36AM**, arriving Bargo Station 9:18AM. Enjoy pretty Lake Macquarie (2 hours from Sydney) while zipping along on our catamarans and getting a good introduction to sailing. More exciting than being on a yacht ! We have 18-foot, 16-foot and 14-foot catamarans. No experience is required. Come for either the weekend or a day (we recommend coming for the weekend). If so, are you prepared to give others lifts ? * If you don't have your own transport, what suburb do you live in ? * Contact phone number. * Do you have a tent ? We can hire but you must have your own sleeping bag. * Can you swim (we wear lifejackets but cannot take non-swimmers) * Are you reasonably agile ? We don’t need super athletes, but you are sitting on a flat deck (not a seat) and you need to be able to move 3 metres to the other side of the boat at reasonable speed. A simple test is whether you can lie flat on a carpet and stand up within 4 seconds without using furniture. * We cannot take people weighing more than 95 kg (even if agile). COST: Sailing fee $70 (weekend); $40 (day), camping $26, lift $15, tent hire $10. You need your own sleeping bag. This is a group event and requires people to be on time to assist in rigging boats. If coming Saturday, arrive by 10:00 am ready for the outdoors. If coming for the day only be prepared to stay until 6pm. For Sunday, be prepared to arrive by 9am and stay until 5pm. Camping is at a caravan park with facilities. We are a long-established sailing group run by the YHA. We hold sailing weekends every 4 weeks. NO SAILING EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY. Catamaran sailing is a fun and exciting way to experience the water, as the boats zip along in the wind. The boats are easy to sail and offer a good opportunity for anyone who wants to learn or experience sailing by getting some practice on either handling the jib, trapezing (hanging out the side of the boat on a harness) or skippering. We are not a "racing" group, we just like to be on the water and away from Sydney for a weekend, taking it easy.

Coastal Escape: Manly North Head Circuit, wormhole and beyond ~12/15 km

Join us for a stunning coastal adventure where we’ll explore the North Head Circuit and the surrounding coastline. This route offers **spectacular ocean and harbour views, WWII history at North Fort, and local wildlife**. Depending on the weather and group pace, we will also navigate the “**secret wormhole” tunnel linking Manly to Freshwater,** followed by an optional extension towards Dee Why or a return to Manly for a late lunch. We will then head towards the "secret wormhole" tunnel. If the weather is pleasant, we will tackle the rocky path through the tunnel to Freshwater Beach, returning to Manly via the B2M path. On a hotter day, we will visit the wormhole and return to Manly via an easier path. We will finish at Manly, where you can catch the ferry back to the city or stick around for a swim and a well-earned late lunch! * **Gratuity:** A $5 gratuity is appreciated to cover organising costs. Freshwater is a beautiful beach just North of Manly. As it is an open beach, it will be subject to surf conditions, and would not be suitable for absolute beginners even in very calm conditions. That being said, we can have Fairlight Beach as a back up plan if it is too rough. We can meet in the car park above the ocean pool at 11am and make a decision once we see what it is like.
