Renaissance Fair
Sat, Aug 29, 2:30 PMPlease rsvp and if you haven' yet, join our brand new community where all the new trips will be announced first. [https://chat.whatsapp.com/E7N48SpiIUR11tIpZ5WtBx](https://chat.whatsapp.com/E7N48SpiIUR11tIpZ5WtBx) Join The Active Culture for a day of stepping back in time at the New York Renaissance Faire in Tuxedo, NY. For one day, the woods of Sterling Forest are transformed into a 16th-century English village filled with costumed characters, knights, pirates, musicians, performers, artisans, pubs, games, and plenty of food and drinks. We'll spend the day wandering through the village, watching the famous **jousting tournament**, catching live performances, checking out the huge marketplace of handmade goods, and probably getting pulled into a few ridiculous games or conversations with the characters along the way. You can come in regular clothes or get into the spirit and dress up—either way, people-watching alone is half the fun. We will meet in the city and travel together (transportation provided). The cost of the trip is $115 and it includes tickets to the Fair. Please rsvp and if you haven' yet, join our brand new community where all the new trips will be announced first. Nantucket & Newport RI on Labor Day Weekend
Sat, Sep 5, 1:00 PMPlease rsvp and if you haven' yet, join our brand new community where all the new trips will be announced first. [https://chat.whatsapp.com/E7N48SpiIUR11tIpZ5WtBx](https://chat.whatsapp.com/E7N48SpiIUR11tIpZ5WtBx) Join us for a long Labor Day weekend exploring two of New England's most beautiful coastal destinations, Newport, Rhode Island and Nantucket, Massachusetts. We'll leave Saturday morning and spend most of the day exploring Newport, with its gorgeous coastline, historic Gilded Age mansions, harbor, charming streets, shops, restaurants and famous Cliff Walk. Newport has a great mix of history, scenery and things to do, so everyone can choose what interests them most. On Sunday, we'll take a high-speed ferry to Nantucket and spend the day exploring the island. Nantucket is a completely different experience, historic cobblestone streets, beautiful beaches, lighthouses, old whaling-era architecture, boutique shops, galleries, seafood and plenty of places to relax by the water. We'll explore the historic downtown, visit the Whaling Museum, rent a bike, head to the beach, check out the lighthouses, or just wander around and enjoy the island atmosphere. We'll be staying both night conveniently close to both locations. On Monday we can see everything we didn't have a chance on Saturday in Newport. And we'll be heading back toward NYC around 5 PM. There will be plenty of flexibility throughout the weekend, and we'll put together a full itinerary with suggested activities, restaurants, ferry details and things to do for anyone who wants to follow a plan. We will meet in the city and travel together (transportation provided) The cost of the trip, which includes Lodging, Transportation and Ferry, is $650 for an individual and $485 for a shared room. Please rsvp and if you haven' yet, join our brand new community where all the new trips will be announced first. You don't want to miss a thing, so walking and standing for longer periods of time (2-3 hours) isn’t a big deal. A moderately paced two-and-a-half-hour walking tour, covering several miles, hills, and uneven surfaces, is no problem for you. Walking four miles over the course of a day is very doable, as is climbing into and out of various modes of transportation (tuk-tuk, cable car, zodiac, etc.). You can climb three flights of stairs easily and handle altitudes between 6,000 and 9,000 feet. Expect some longer days balanced with free time to recharge or set out on your own adventure. This level is not a fit for travelers who require mobility assistance devices. Question's? ROBBGILL@YAHOO.COM Thank you- Robert
