Come along on Saturday 29th August for a coach trip to visit the 1066 battlefield, medieval Winchelsea and the fishing town of Hastings! **About the day** All three sites are in the county of East Sussex. **1066 Battlefield** The battlefield is where the most famous battle in English history took place in 1066. It is where English Saxon King Harold and William, Duke of Normandy, led their troops into battle for the crown of England. William, the Duke of Normandy won the battle and became king of England and changing the country forever. The Bayeux Tapestry which is due to go on display in the British Museum tells the story of the events before the battle, the battle itself and the crowning of William. **Winchelsea** Winchelsea is a small town on the East Sussex coast which stands on the site of a medieval town, founded in 1288. It retains its medieval setting on a hill surrounded by largely empty marsh and has one of the largest collection of medieval wine cellars in the country (when it was trading with Gascony in France). **Hastings** The town can claim fame through its connection with the Norman conquest of England in 1066 and because it became one of the medieval Cinque Ports. For centuries, it was an important fishing port and even today has the largest beach-based fishing fleet in England. The town has many medieval streets and you can get a cable car to the top of the cliffs. **Entry Cost** Entry to the battlefield is £16 per person (payable by cash or credit card on the day). The 1066 Battlefield is free for English Heritage members. Well just one thing, HIKING by the sea with the loveliest people you know and of course, maybe have a swim for those who fancy... Join me on a trip, tried last year with a lovely group of guinea pigs who enjoyed it with a lot of laughter. We will be on the cliff top for most of the time, so you will have some gorgeous view of the English Channel and we will end our trip in the historical town of Folkestone, a gorgeous town that has managed to keep its old days atmosphere and where you will be given the opportunity to have a dip in the sea at the end of the trip if you fancy and if the weather allows. Folkestone is a port town on the English Channel and is one hell of a trendy place, that mizes history, food, nature and some colourful houses and streets where you can wander for hours. So guys, what a better way to start the weekend? With a hike, by the sea and as usual, a meal or a drink afterwards. We have found a delightful little Thai restaurant last time with a Juke Box that played Barbie Girl on replay as it was our song of the day...DELICIOUS food or we can try another if you wish to... INFORMATION: Distance:10 miles/17km Difficulty:medium, a couple of hills. TRAVEL:Via train (only a 1h20 minutes journey )We will buy a discounted group ticket on the day so please bring about £25 in cash on the day, if you have the change, I will be grateful to you forever 😄 MEETING POINT:09:30am at Saint Pancras Station,please do not be late and do not go to Kings Cross station which is located across the street... We are heading to Snowdonia for a small-group escape where we will hike, swim, laugh, explore and make memories in one of the most beautiful parts of the UK. Our Base: We’ll be staying in a cosy Airbnb in Llanberis or a similar nearby mountain town (depending on availability) - surrounded by lakes, peaks and adventure on the doorstep. Accomodation: Shared Airbnb estimated at around £50 per person for the stay (TBC once booked). Places and accommodation are getting snapped up quickly. What’s waiting for you: ⛰️Snowdon via the legendary Watkin Path. A truly stunning route with waterfalls, dramatic scenery and one of the most rewarding summit finishes in the UK. 🦢 Представьте крошечную деревушку Abbotsbury на побережье Дорсета. Здесь на небольшом пятачке сошлись дикая природа, средневековая история и субтропическая ботаника, и всё это в шаговой доступности друг от друга. Сердце места — **[Abbotsbury Swannery](https://www.abbotsburyswannery.co.uk/)**, единственная в мире управляемая человеком колония диких лебедей-шипунов, открытая для посетителей. Монахи-бенедиктинцы начали заботиться о птицах ещё в 1390-х годах, и с тех пор традиция не прерывается: специалисты поддерживают гнёзда, охраняют кладки и проводят подкормку, из-за чего сотни птиц доверчиво возвращаются сюда каждый год. В разгар сезона вы ступаете прямо среди гнёзд и выводков, а пушистые серые птенцы неуклюже переваливаются у самых ног — это редчайшая возможность наблюдать за жизнью лебединой семьи без ограждений и барьеров. Главная изюминка заповедника — живой ивовый лабиринт в форме лебедя. Переплетённые ветви образуют извилистые коридоры, повторяющие очертания гигантской птицы, раскинувшей крылья прямо на земле. Блуждать внутри этого зелёного чуда — отдельное, почти сказочное удовольствие. Ферма примыкает прямо к Chesil Beach — грандиозной 18-мильной галечной гряде, охраняемой ЮНЕСКО. 🍀Буквально в нескольких минутах ходьбы от лебединой фермы и пляжа, в укрытой от ветров долине, прячутся **[Abbotsbury Gardens](https://www.abbotsburygardens.co.uk/)** — субтропические сады, где под дорсетским небом цветут камелии и магнолии, тянутся ввысь древовидные папоротники и прижились экзотические растения со всего света. С верхней смотровой площадки сада открывается та самая открыточная панорама: сверкающая лента лагуны, бескрайняя полоса Chesil Beach и туманная даль моря до самого горизонта. 🏖️От садов до дикого галечного пляжа Chesil не больше десяти минут пешком, поэтому при желании можно легко перенести часть времени на берег моря и совместить садовые аллеи с шумом прибоя.
