Los Angeles Audubon Society hosts the *Open Wetlands* event at the Ballona Wetlands Ecological Reserve with the collaboration of NNI staff. Binoculars are available to borrow! Volunteers guide visitors in viewing aquatic invertebrates through microscopes, learning about the unique ecosystems found at Ballona, and viewing birds through powerful spotting scopes along Ballona Creek. Enter through the gate in the northeast corner of the parking lot behind the 300 block of Culver Blvd in Playa del Rey (zip code 90293). **Event:** **Amazing 5.0 mile walk from Marina Del Rey, Jetty at sunset, paved path beach walk** **Meet st the free Dock 52 parking lot,, Rick will have on a safety vest 🦺** **The 5.0 mile walk is on level trails. Can get cold so dress appropriately. Bring tennis shoes, water, sun screen, sun protection, and a fun spirit. We’re going outside for a cause! 🎀 Will send registration link of the team we are apart of in the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk! Come walk with us, celebrate survivors, honor those we’ve lost, and show support for everyone impacted by breast cancer. 💗 📍 Santa Monica Pier 📅 Saturday, October 24 ⏰ 9:30 AM Wear pink, bring comfortable shoes, and come solo or with a friend! No donation necessary! Just showing up and walking with us is a meaningful way to support the cause. Donations to the American Cancer Society are completely optional.

Friday Mornings / Beach Volleyball

We meet every Friday morning at 9:00 a.m., in Manhattan Beach at the 4th Street courts. This group is open to INTERMEDIATE AND UP LEVEL players. This group is NOT for beginners. **First time players are asked to show up and play before they ask to join the group via the Meetup app.** For members, players are asked to bring their own volleyballs & lines, if you have them. Please RSVP as early in the week as possible so that we know that we have at least four players. FRIDAY--Easy Night walk around Silverlake

Silverlake can be quite beautiful at night. Walk is mostly easy 2.2 miles RT around the lake. Walk is approx. 1 hour. There is short uphill on this walk--approx. 10 minutes Some members go to the local Oyster bar afterwards. **Rain will cancel walk. Dogs ok as long as on leash.** Parking: Street parking. There is more parking when you park along the lake --along W. Silverlake Dr.
