2 EURO DONATION FEE PER PERSON IS REQUIRED (on site, in cash), to pay back the Meetup subscription fees and support my Events. READ THE DESCRIPTION WITH THE INFO (IMPORTANT). WHATSAPP LINK BELOW 📳 We take the HBX train that departs from Berlin Gesundbrunnen at 07,02 AM and arrives to Ilsenburg at 10,29 🚉😀 The train is available also in Lichtenberg, Wannsee and Potsdam. I attach the screenshot with all the stations. The train is Deutschland Ticket valid. Once in Ilsenburg station, we take a local bus to save a bit of walking (since the actual Hike will be already very long 😆💯). I attach the screenshot of this bus connection, here the website of the local buses (note: these connections are not present on Google Maps) 🚏: https://www.insa.de/ We then start our Hike and this is the path 🚶‍♀️🚶 The Brocken Mountain is the highest peak in northern Germany ⛰️ with an elevation of 1,142 meters https://www.komoot.com/tour/2936906879 Bring your own food 🍔 and drinks 🥤, we will take breaks where we deem appropriate. IMPORTANT: please consider that the Hike is 24kms with 860 meters of elevation difference, come only if you know that you are physically fit 😊 People who do not want/can make the whole Hike can join and decide to come back earlier without making the whole route 😊 INFO ℹ️ℹ️ Route distance: 24 kms Elevation difference: 860 meters up and 860 meters down (it is a loop) Breaks ⛔: When and where we deem appropriate. On the way back it seems there are no local buses, in the late afternoon, from Parkplatz Ilsenburg Brockenwanderung to the station, so maybe we should walk 2 kms more. A direct train to come back from Ilsenburg to Berlin is available at 17,31 (HBX), but maybe (or even probably) it will be too early for us. Other connections are anyway available, changing train in Magdeburg 🚉 If you have to contact me, make it via Whatsapp, not here on Meetup. Wine Hike: Saale-Unstrut

Wine Hike: Saale-Unstrut

Sat, Jul 18, 5:00 AM
From Cole Walks Hiking Group

Visit one of Germany's best wine regions, and hike along the Saale river, visiting local wineries. *A day-trip from Berlin to one of Germany's best wine regions, Saale-Unstrut, in Saxon-Anhalt. Hike along the river to the historic town of Saale-Unstrut, visiting several wineries along the way.* Hike Distance: 15km Difficulty: Intermediate WHY GO? Walk along the Saale river, passing through the villages, vineyards, traditional stone wine huts, and numerous Straußwirtschaften (seasonal wine taverns) where you can stop for a glass of Müller-Thurgau or Silvaner. Away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, you'll find an atmosphere here that is rarely seen these days. The landscape along the Saale River is characterized by vineyards with steep terraces, centuries-old dry stone walls, and romantic vineyard cottages. A unique Mediterranean flora and fauna offer many surprises. The hike also includes the medieval German town of Naumberg - Friedrich Nietzsche - and its UNESCO Heritage Cathedral, the Blütengrund, where the Saale and Unstrut rivers meet, and the serene, salt-aired spa town Bad Kösen. **Tour Guide** The tour will be led by travel author and guide Dan Cole, authoer of the leading hiking guide Weinwandern Deutschland. Dan has also worked previously for Lonely Planet, Easyjet Magazine, and Lufthansa, and has several published travel guides about Berlin and beyond.
