Join us for a fun, social adventure at our Grand Central Murder Mystery Scavenger Hunt. Get ready to have a good time making new friends and solving a mystery. Plus, you'll find out things about Grand Central you never knew before! How It Works: * **When you arrive we will put you on teams - if you don’t already have one (90% of those attending will not have a team).** * **Each team will be given a list of clues and 75 minutes to head to Grand Central to uncover the mystery of Mary’s demise. The team with the most points wins.** * **Once everyone is back we'll safely socialize where you can share your experiences with the others.** The Theme: Meet Up Mary is a regular on the social circuit in New York. You'd probably know her if you've been out before. She was very personable, friendly and bubbly! Unfortunately Mary met a horrific end at Grand Central and the police need you help to solve her case! They are consistently well attended. Must prepay to attend.)* Everyone's favorite Haunted Hunt is back! It's a unique, enjoyable way to socialize, learn and explore outdoors! Clues, Spells, and Curses! Join dozens as they set out onto the streets of the Financial District; the site of graveyards, hauntings and some of the grizzliest deeds ever done! It will be a fun way to explore and socialize. We'll set you up on teams and give you everything you need to know to help find the clues. **How does it work?** If you come alone we will set you up on a team (or you can play with a team) and we'll give you everything you need to know to help find the clues. Each team will have 90 minutes to find as many of the clues we give you. When finished we will return to a set location for socializing. Prizes are awarded to those finding the most clues. **What are we looking for?** Lower Manhattan in the early 1600's till now has been the site of hangings, hauntings, massacres, explosions, and other not so nice and creepy things. You will be scouring Bowling Green to City Hall, visiting (supposedly haunted places), searching for history-markers and research things that happened. **FAQs:** How do I find group? We will meet in front of the Fraunces Tavern. FTI Event: Tricks of the Mind: Can You Trust What You Think?


**Description:** We all like to believe that we look at the evidence and then form our opinions. But very often, our minds work in the opposite direction: we form a belief and then become remarkably good at finding evidence that supports it. Join the **Free Thinker Institute** for an interactive discussion about the psychology of **confirmation bias**—what it is, why virtually everyone experiences it, how it can distort our judgment and decision-making, and, most importantly, what we can do to overcome it. We'll explore why intelligent, well-intentioned people can look at the same information and reach completely different conclusions, why being smart doesn't necessarily protect us from our own biases, and practical techniques we can use to become more open-minded, intellectually honest, and accurate thinkers. If time permits, we'll also explore some of the many ways people can be persuaded to believe things that aren't true—from repetition and emotional appeals to social pressure, misleading statistics, selective evidence, and other techniques. The goal isn't to tell anyone **what to think**. It's to get better at **how we think**—and to become more resilient when someone, intentionally or unintentionally, tries to convince us of something that isn't true. Come prepared to question your assumptions—including your own.
