ABSURDITIES art exhibit then coffee social - Halloween-themed
Sat, Oct 31, 3:00 PM🎃 **Halloween with a twist: step into the absurd!** What better way to celebrate Halloween than by exploring a world where the familiar becomes strange and reality feels a little absurd? This Saturday, join London Art Lovers for Absurdities, an exhibition by Angus Irvine featuring unusual sculptures, installations and interactive works that challenge how we see the world. 👻👻👻Feel free to dress up, get creative with your Halloween makeup, or simply come as you are. Let’s bring a little Halloween magic to the art world! 👻👻👻 Expect unexpected perspectives, playful encounters and ideas that might just mess with your mind. 💀Come along, embrace the weird, and let’s explore the absurd together! **🎫 Entry is free no booking required. We are meeting at the gallery’s entrance.** [More info on the gallery’s event page here.](http://cryptgallery.org/event/absurdities/) **We will explore the exhibit for about an hour then head to a nice cafe nearby for socialising. If we are a group of 4 or more we can later head somewhere in the area for dinner and drinks 🍷🎃** Important to Note: 1. We typically socialise at cafés after the exhibit, nice, independent ones, not chains and not at pubs. If the event is late on a Saturday we go to a nice bar/pub for drinks after. This meetup is inclusive and everyone is welcome to join. 1. If you get there before everyone and you’re not sure what to do or where we are, post a comment on here and I will let you know our whereabouts. 1. Once we go in we may separate, feel free to explore the exhibit by yourself, we don’t have to be together. Some people like chatting to others while exploring and other people prefer to be with their own thoughts. You are welcome to express yourself and do whatever feels comfortable. 1. If you are late or if you’ve booked for an earlier or later time don’t worry just go in and you’ll find us inside. Keep an eye on the comments as I’ll be posting updates.

Gallery & Sketching
Fri, Nov 6, 10:00 AMHave you ever wanted to be that person who sketches in a gallery but you're too nervous to have people look over your shoulder? Yea, I've been there. It's intimidating. You feel like you're in the room naked. I've also been the person to sit and sketch and it's one of the most rewarding activities you can do. Just you, the artwork, and a bunch of people wishing they could do the same. Come and join me on the first Friday of the month and let's go to a gallery. These will be small groups and free of charge. We'll visit a new gallery each month, hopefully free ones and we'll do an hour or so of sketching, followed by a cuppa tea afterwards. Make sure you register so I can send you all the information a few days before the event.

The Model is the Message - a talk on ML and AI: inference, ethics and the arts
Thu, Oct 29, 6:00 PMA free 1-hour talk by Marcel Top and Tessa Edwards on creativity and exploration in Machine Learning and AI as both the instrument and subject of societal critique and reflective self-evaluation. From deepfakes and facial recognition to digital privacy, surveillance and ethics around AI and creativity. ### **About the Artists** [Marcel Top](https://www.instagram.com/marceltoptop/?hl=en "https://www.instagram.com/marceltoptop/?hl=en") is a visual artist working between Belgium and London. Top researches the topics of mass surveillance, privacy, data collection. In his practice, he layers a traditional approach to documentary research with a more experimental use of new technologies (such as facial recognition, movement analysis, and deepfakes). The artist uses these technologies to visualise and examine scenarios in which people can protect themselves and their rights by gaining knowledge and reclaiming control of surveillance tools. Top’s work has been exhibited internationally, including FOMU Antwerp, Fotofestiwal Łódź, Athens Photo Festival, Circulation(s) and PhEST. He received the Encontros da Imagem Discovery Award for *Reversed Surveillance* (2024), the Prix Médiatine (2024), Folio #3 from the Institut pour la photographie (2023), and a PhMuseum Grant exhibition award (2022). His work is held in the collections of the University of the Arts London and the Institut pour la photographie in Lille. [Tessa Edwards](https://www.instagram.com/babylon_kingkong?stkn=MTF1N2swdnZ4YTFxeg== "https://www.instagram.com/babylon_kingkong?stkn=MTF1N2swdnZ4YTFxeg==") is a creative technologist who moved from fashion into filmmaking and spatial computing before turning to machine learning. She treats ML as a material — working with its latent spaces, flaws, and logic as the medium itself. Her recent work spans deepfake analysis, psychoacoustics, and the use of steganography and hidden signals to explore perception, concealment, and the ways intelligent systems operate in dimensions beyond human reach. As an advocate for privacy and AI safety, Tessa’s work explores the ambiguities of ethical technology systems. Curated by HQI. Hosted by The Studio at White City Place.
