Docker for Founders & Startups: What Are You Actually Shipping?

Docker for Founders & Startups: What Are You Actually Shipping?

Thu, Aug 27, 7:30 AM
From Melbourne Docker User Group
4.6

Melbourne, what are you actually shipping? This one is not a product tour. We want to hear from the people in this city who are building real things and using Docker to do it — founders, first engineers, indie developers, and anyone running coding agents and shipping fast. Bring the real setup. The one with the workaround in it. The bit you are slightly embarrassed by. That is the good part, and it is the part nobody puts in a conference talk. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR ON THE NIGHT Short, honest talks from startup developers and founders about how you actually build and ship. How you run your dev environment. What broke. What you would do differently. What you tried that did not work. We prefer live demos over slides. We like seeing real code, even when mistakes happen. Especially then. SPEAKING SLOTS ARE OPEN We still have room on the agenda, and we would rather fill it with people from this community than with a vendor. You do not need to be an expert, and you do not need speaking experience. If you have built something and can talk honestly about how, that is enough. We will help you shape the topic, review your slides, and practise the demo beforehand. Two formats: Lightning talk, 5 to 10 minutes. One thing you learned, one tool you love, one problem you solved. Perfect if you have never spoken before. Deep dive, 20 to 40 minutes. Show a full workflow, run a live demo, tell the whole story. Submit here: https://sessionize.com/melbourne-docker-user-group Or just comment on this event and we will come to you. WHO THIS IS FOR Founders shipping a product, where infrastructure is the tax you pay to do it. Startup engineers who are one of the first few and making the infrastructure decisions. Vibe coders running agents and building fast, who want to keep things secure. Indie developers building alone with simple, low-cost tools. Students learning to code who want to see how real teams actually work. AGENDA 5:30pm — Doors, food and drinks 6:00pm — Welcome 6:05pm — Talks from Melbourne founders and startup devs (speakers TBA) 7:00pm — Open floor: bring your setup and your questions 7:40pm — Networking 8:30pm — Close SPEAKERS To be announced. We are confirming the lineup this week and will update this listing as talks land. VENUE Microsoft, Level 5, 4 Freshwater Place, Southbank VIC 3006. Short walk from Flinders Street Station across Queens Bridge. Head to Level 5 and someone will meet you from 5:30pm. FOOD Provided, with vegetarian and vegan options. Let us know about allergies when you register. OUR COMMUNITY RULES We are a friendly space. There are no "bad" questions here. We believe in helping each other learn, from fixing a small error to building a large system. No sales pitches and no recruitment pitches. This is a forum for education and honest discussion. Thank you to Microsoft for hosting us. Join us. Let's build something together.
