From AWAY FROM KEYBOARD: Walks & Wellbeing for Tech Professionals
4.9

Tech work can be deeply rewarding but deadlines, uncertainty, context switching, incidents, responsibility, difficult communication, and the pressure to constantly keep up can leave you stuck in work mode long after you close your laptop. You might notice racing thoughts, tension, shallow breathing, irritability, brain fog, difficulty concentrating, or simply the feeling that you can't switch off but still keep pushing through. **These walks are a chance to step away from the keyboard, get moving, and reconnect with yourself and other people who understand what tech work is like.** There’s no productivity advice, no corporate wellness clichés, and no expectation that you have to “fix” yourself. We walk, talk, decompress and regulate our nervous system. Sometimes you need a change of scenery. Sometimes you need to talk to someone who gets it. Sometimes you just need to stop working for an hour. **Come walk with us.** Berlin is getting dark again. Let's catch those rays of sun during the lunch break ☀️! Agenda: 12:10 We meet at Schöneberg Park next to the fountain with the golden deer statue ("Der goldene Hirsch"). 12:15 We walk to Volkspark Wilmersdorf 12:50 We arrive back in Schöneberg Park, at the golden deer statue. We walk at every weather, so make sure to dress properly! Looking forward to meeting you at our lunchtime walk. Marija Please note\*\*:\*\* This gathering is meant for connection and conversation, and is not a replacement for therapy or professional mental health support. \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- WHO'S HOSTING **I’m Marija - a software engineer, life coach, and fellow expat.** I’ve worked in tech for **12 years**, across iOS and backend development, so I know firsthand the pressures that come with building a career in this industry alongside burnout, identity confusion, and starting over in a new country. Now, as a **WCO-certified coach**, I help others understand stress, regulate their emotions, and build more sustainable ways of living and working. **AWAY FROM KEYBOARD** grew from that experience and from a belief that we’re better off figuring this stuff out together. Let's connect! https://www.linkedin.com/in/marija-juodyte/

Walk of Shame

Walk of Shame

Sun, Oct 18, 8:30 AM
From Walk of Shame Berlin
4.6

If you’re interested in personal development, emotional intelligence and having conversations that go a little deeper than the usual small talk, this group is for you. **Walk of Shame is a relaxed, playful way to meet new people while exploring the things we don’t always find easy to talk about — shame, embarrassment, vulnerability, fear, awkward experiences, or simply the parts of ourselves we tend to hide.** There’s something surprisingly freeing about telling a stranger something you’ve been carrying around in your head. Sometimes the things we believe make us weird, wrong or unlovable become much less powerful the moment they’re spoken out loud and met with curiosity rather than judgment. This is a **no-judgment space open to everyone**. Come with an open mind, a willingness to be a little vulnerable, and the ability to listen respectfully to other people’s stories. **We’ll meet in front of Schloss Charlottenburg on Sunday 18th October at 10.30am. I’ll be holding a Swedish flag.** English and German speakers are both very welcome. **I host the event in English.** ### **What to Expect** This event is completely **FREE**. We’ll spend around **1.5-2 hours walking through the gardens of Schloss Charlottenburg**, pairing up and changing walking partners a few times along the way. I’ll break the ice by sharing something of my own first and offer a few prompts to help us move beyond the usual “So, what do you do?” conversation. There’s no pressure to reveal your deepest secret. You choose what you want to share. The intention is simply to practice being a little more honest, curious and courageous in conversation — and perhaps discover that some of the things you thought you had to hide aren’t nearly as strange as you imagined. Weather permitting, we’ll finish by finding a nice spot to sit together for a short group sharing and a simple embodiment practice. **If the idea makes you slightly nervous or embarrassed, you may be exactly the kind of person this event was made for.** ### **What to Bring** Bring yourself, something to drink and, if the weather looks good, a small blanket to sit on. ### **About the Organiser** Hi, I’m Kim. I’m a Swedish-born, English raised now veteran 18 yr Berliner with a background in design and a fascination with people, emotions, behaviour and the stories we build our lives around. After more than 20 years working in design, I retrained as a **Transformative Coach and Emotional Release facilitator**. Today I work with people (mostly men) who want to understand themselves more deeply, question old patterns and expectations, and create lives that feel more genuinely their own. Alongside my 1:1 work, I host conversations, workshops and events around emotional wellbeing, shame, relationships, identity, personal growth and the wonderfully messy experience of being human. My own life has included some sizeable reinventions too - leaving a long marriage, changing careers, recovering from chronic stress and physical symptoms through a fully natural and holistic approach including somatic and fascia release work, and questioning many of the ideas I once had about what a “successful” life was supposed to look like. **Walk of Shame grew from my belief that some of the most meaningful conversations happen when someone is brave enough to say the thing everyone else is quietly thinking.**
