My 14th Annual Bday Horror Movie Marathon Watch Party
Fri, Oct 16, 7:00 PMMy 14th annual bday horror movie marathon watch party is set to take place in October and for the first time ever I’m taking the event mainstream by opening it up to the broader community of horror movie lovers beyond my usual (already considerable) network of friends. The situation is that my bday falls right around Halloween and so every year to celebrate for the last 13 years I've hosted an epic, all-night/weekend horror movie marathon watch party that was historically a single evening, 12-hour affair where we ran thru all if not most of a legacy slasher franchise for the first 8 years (Child’s Play/Chucky 3x, Halloween 2x, Leprechaun 2x, and Friday the 13th/Jason 1x). In order to be completists 5 years ago we started a fresh new tradition-within-the-tradition and expanded the party to 2 nights, with 12 movies and 18 hours of every Friday the 13th/Jason; 8 movies, season 1 and 18 hours of every Child’s Play/Chucky outing; and 13 movies and 20 hours of every Halloween, respectively. And the last 2 years we broke new ground yet again by departing from the single franchise format and mixing it up with different characters and stories tied to certain themes on different days: Slashers Saturday (The Burning, Slumber Party Massacre, Streetwalkin, Chopping Mall, Man’s Best Friend, Serial Mom, My Bloody Valentine 3D and Nurse 3D) + Monsters Sunday (The Maze 3D, Humanoids From the Deep, Parasite 3D, Night of the Demons, Tremors and Jeepers Creepers) in 2024, and Underwater Terror Friday (Creature From the Lagoon 3D, Jaws, Piranha, Piranha 3D, Bait 3D and The Meg 3D) + Found Footage/Screenlife Saturday (Antrum: The Deadliest Film Ever Made, Megan Is Missing, Banshee Chapter, Creep, Ratter, Hell House LLC, Searching and Host) last year. This year we’re continuing to build on that legacy of breaking new ground for no-holds-barred fun by boldly going where no party has gone before — Alien Invasion Friday and Foreign Nightmares Saturday. That’s right. 7 movies and 11.5 hours of terrifyingly memorable and iconic movies depicting alien invasions and infiltrations on Earth spanning *61 years* on Friday, and 10 hours of hard-hitting, provocative and nightmare-inducing foreign movies on Saturday. Join us at my apartment on Friday October 16th from 3 pm to 2:30 am and on Saturday October 17th from 3:30pm to 1:40 am as we usher in this bold new chapter of movie watch partying with: Night 1 - Alien Invasion It Came From Outer Space 3D (1953) Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) The Thing (1982) Predator 3D (1987) Dark Angel/I Come In Peace (1990) Signs (2002) Alien Abduction (2014) Night 2 - Foreign Nightmares The Vanishing (1988) Funny Games (1997) Cure (1997) Triangle (2009) Terrified (2018) Talk To Me (2023) Full bar, delicious food, drinking games, a no-frills home movie theater. If ur into horror movies in spooky season, what’s not to love?!? Over the years I've been doin this I've built up a nice crowd of regulars (20+ people). That said, this marks the first time I’m opening it up to the general public so as I’m taking a chance here I’m gonna insist on meeting anyone interested before giving out my location. This way I can root out the serial killers, etc. Simply RSVP and I’ll reach out to schedule a meetup at a public location (let’s say a bar?). As this takes place in an NYC apartment, space is limited so this will be strictly first come, first served up to about 10 people. Please keep ur RSVP updated so people on the waitlist can join. Everyone interested should bring $15 for food + drinks, as I provide plenty of both, including pizza and appetizers plus a full bar. Please note that although the party is very long (21.5 hours spread out across two nights), with people coming and going as they please, there will be times where it’ll be standing room so I can’t guarantee everyone a seat at all hours (mine is not a huge apartment). I have no idea what kind of response to expect here but if I get flooded with interest I’ll try my best to organize a group outing that way everyone gets to know each other in one shot.
