From Berlin bike adventures

After-work bike ride: Ostkreuz → Adlershof and back. Shake off the workday with a relaxed evening ride to Adlershof. We'll cycle from Ostkreuz to Berlin's largest science and technology park — home to the historic Trudelturm, a 1930s aviation research tower, and other landmarks from Berlin's aviation history. We'll explore the area, stop for a drink or snack, and then head back. Any bike type works. No special experience needed - just show up and enjoy the ride. • Start & End: S-Bahn Ostkreuz • Distance: \~25 km (round trip) • Terrain: Flat, bike paths • Pace: The one you're comfortable with - we're here to relax after work, not to race • Recommended to bring: water and lights • Equipment: Up to you but you're responsible for your own safety. Food and drinks at the stop not included — pay your own. See you! 🚲

Cylce & dine - Wagencafé Eberswalde

========== FACTS ========== ROUTE: Eberswalde > Finowkanal > Biesenthal > Bernau LEVEL: Easy-Peasy to Intermediate DISTANCE: 35ish kms MEETING POINT: 09:00 - Berlin Südkreuz ========== FACTS ========== ========= DETAILS ========= **ROUTE:** Recommened by a member the Wagencafé in Eberswalde is founded by a Philosopher and received quite a few raving reviews. So, why not just popping over and have a chat!? And a coffee! And maybe a cake? The cafe is just a few kms after the train station and once we all had enough, coffee & chat, we head further on a former towpath with a gorgeous view across the Finowkanal, passing the bridge where it's said the famous autor Theodor Fontane had kissed his later wife the first time (well, when the bridge was still part of the Weidendammbrücke in Berlin). But also a former Paper- and Brass factory are interesting places along the way. Once we leave the towpath after about 10km we head south, passing an old Airfield and then cycling mainly through nature. In Biesenthal is another chance for a quick stop, just in case the energy from the first coffee has burned down. From there its just 10 more km to the train station in Bernau, were we can hop into the S-Bahn or, for the stronger amongst us, head further to Berlin. All in all a relaxed tour on a hopefully sunny day! **SPEED:** Leisurely around 14 km/h, at least if the wind doesn't come from the front. This is like "Being able to see the details on the side of the road and enjoying the view in general… and have a chat." **DISTANCE AND TERRAIN:** This is an about 35ish km ride, with mainly solid but also some forrest or soft ground. In general: Bikes with thin tyres (Race bikes, Road bikes, Fixies), rented bikes (Uber, Swapfiets) or any special bikes (Folding bikes, BMX etc.) are not suitable! You won't have fun, trust me! And if you want to bring Kids or Animals please get in touch before! **MEETING POINT:** 09:00 - Berlin Südkreuz, at the ticket machine at the NORTHERN END (facing the TV tower) of the platform. I have a blue Villiger Trekking bike. But you can hop in at any other station if you want (and dare). **TICKET:** It is 8,10 way out / person and 5,00 (Berlin ABC) way back, so it doesn't make much sense to organise a BBT. But don't forget your "[24-hour ticket bicycle VBB network](https://www.vbb.de/en/tickets/tickets-for-your-bicycle/24-hour-ticket-bicycle/)" ticket which is about 7,50 EUR. **WAY OUT:** 09:10 - dep. Berlin Südkreuz, platform 6, taking RE3 towards Stralsund 10:02 - arr. Eberswalde, platform 3 **WAY BACK:** Any S-Bahn we catch in Bernau. But you can head further back to berlin, if you feel so. **RECOMMENDATIONS:** Check the train schedule in the morning! The DB loves to stir up the plans by changing trains on short notice! If anything happens the Meeting point is the starting point of the cycling. While we'll stop somewhere for a lunch and/or coffee please always bring your snacks but especially some drinks along! And, PLEASE make sure your bike is in a proper state! Check your tyre pressure and oil the chain! Does your light work? Having a toolset is highly recommended and a spare inner tube to fix a flat tyre a big plus! While we might be able to help in some circumstances please think about what happens if we can't! Thank you! Bringing special equipment (Helmet, safety vest etc.) is NOT required but welcome if you feel more safe using it. And in case you need special medical treatment please make me aware of that upfront. Even if everyone is responsible for themselves I'd like to be able to handle it if necessary. ========= DETAILS =========
