Hello fellow gamers! **Flock Fest 3** is an extravaganza the bird gods will look down upon and say “That 'ish lit fam”. On this day of celebration, it will be 3 years since we began our journey together! From humble beginnings and here we remain! Come to experience good people in every direction and games as far as the eye can see (assuming you can still see clearly)! We are celebrating The Flock of Gamers like few have ever seen! **The price of entry - Any shareable food or drink of your choosing!** **THIS IS WAR!** Our featured drinking game for the evening is **Egyptian War** (also known as: Rat Screw, Slap, War)! We start the games on easy, no sandwiches, no slap penalties, no funny business. After 1 round of practice we pour everyone a drink and the games officially begins! There will be plenty of additional video games, card games, and board games to play! **Did someone say BYOB!?** All alcohol and 420 products are welcome with exception to torches. Please bring only electric dab rigs and vapes. The host will be providing water, snacks, and mixed drinks for all to enjoy! Please bring your favorite food, snack, or drink of choice to share and be rewarded with the chance to try ours! Vegan friendly and allergen safe food items can be kept separate if necessary. Ice chests, compostable plates, and reusable cups and utensils will be available. **Crashing out? No Problem!** We have a vacant unit with Air mattresses and blankets for those who need to sleep off the night before venturing home! If you would like to arrange a sleeping space for yourself ahead of time, reach out! Please do not drive under the influence of any substance. Hey party people! Come hit up Paper Hero's for a chill afternoon of board games with East Valley Board Games. Also, BUNDLE UP, as it can get quite chilly in our corner of the store. Layers are good. The gaming details: Attendance: This is a drop-in event, so you don’t have to stay the whole time. Come for an hour, come for two hours, show up late, leave early. As long as you clean up any mess that you leave, you're good with us and the wonderful store runners, Andrew and Chris. NOTE: It is advisable that the best way to get in on a game without waiting is to come at the beginning of the event at 2pm. Otherwise you might have to wait a while for a game to end and another to begin. Parking: Paper Heroes is located in a strip mall on the northwest corner of Burbank Blvd. and Hazeltine Ave. in Sherman Oaks. No, we don't know why Meetup lists the city as Los Angeles and not Sherman Oaks. There are a few parking spaces in the small shopping center, and we would suggest looking for street parking as well. Since it's Sunday, meters will be free. **Important note: It's been brought to our attention that there are a few 1 hour parking signs around the venue, so as always, check parking signs carefully so you don't get a visit from a parking cop.** We have had good luck parking on the east side of Hazeltine, just south of Burbank. Food: Outside food and drink is allowed in. We just ask as always that you are careful so as not to spill. There's a coffee shop next door, Nat's Early Bite, which is open until 3pm. Just please be careful and don’t spill food or drink on games, or you’ll be expected to replace them, which we think is a fair policy. Also, there are some game mats placed on some tables around the stores with signs asking patrons to not place food or drink on top of them. PLEASE RESPECT THIS RULE. Don't be a jerk. Speaking of jerk-ish behavior, if you behave like one, you will be removed from our group. So don't be a jerk. This is board gaming, not high stakes Texas Hold 'Em or Wimbledon. We're not playing for money. Relax and chill out. Guests: Guests are great! Just be sure to note it in your RSVP, and if your guests' plans change, please update your RSVP. Please understand that you are responsible for making sure that your guests spend at least $5 at Paper Heroes to support the business. More info on that in a second. Store policy: PH is asking that every person who attends our events makes at least 1 purchase or purchases $5 store credit to use in the future (the store keeps an account for you). Snacks and drinks can be part of this, but they're not ideal. It's a gaming store (also comic books!) after all (and was affected by the pandemic). What we like to do is put aside a list of games we want and buy or order them from PH, rather than get them from Amazon (doesn't Jeff Bozo have enough of our money?) The store runners and East Valley Board Games organizers (Felicity, Joe, and Alan) will remind you at the event. Games: Feel free to bring your own games, or just play the ones that others bring. There's always a healthy selection of strategy games, word games, party games, and so on.

Board gaming on Friday nights in Sherman Oaks

Friday Night Board Gaming (formerly Friday Night Dice) is a meetup for everyone who likes board games. And if you’re new to board games, our friendly gamers are happy to teach you how to play. We play basic European board games like Settlers of Catan, Ticket To Ride, etc., and more advanced games like Suburbia, Power Grid, Terraforming Mars, and Railways of the World. Also war games & card games. We bring lots of games, but you’re free to bring your own! We used to game at LASFS (Los Angeles Science Fantasy Society) in Van Nuys. However, as that organization sold its building we have moved to Paper Hero's and Games, a game store in Sherman Oaks, and we continue to meet every Friday late afternoon and evening. We share the gaming space with a large group of Magic the Gathering players but we easily have room for between 10 to 20 board gamers who usually show up for board games. Most of these gamers are regulars who just don't bother to RSVP as this is a store open to all comers and requiring a Yes RSVP is not feasible as we are often joined by store customers who see what we are doing and ask to join in - and we always say YES! (As most gamers do not bother to RSVP, quite often our home page will just show me as the only attendee even though we may have almost 2 dozen gamers at our tables. So, if the home page shows just 1 person attending, pay no attention to that as we may very well have full house of gamers.) So come on down and get your gaming fix this Friday at the friendly and comfortable game store. We have beginners and advanced gamers, so everyone is welcome.
