From Marin Art Journaling Meetup Group

The Marin Art Journal Group is a casual gathering where you can create your own art, meet wonderful people, and have fun! We meet 2-3 times a month for a relaxing experience, exploring different art forms, learning from one another, and connecting as a community. Please bring your own supplies. If you don't have any, we can provide them for a $5 fee. We love supporting Double Rainbow and Autistry, so feel free to grab a cup of coffee, a sandwich, a delicious homemade pastry, and of course, ice cream!

In-Person Soft Pastels Drawing Class in Art Studio in SF

In-Person Soft Pastels Drawing Class in Art Studio in SF

From Painting and Drawing Classes Meet in Art Studio in SF
4.8

**Please sign up directly on our website: sweetartssanfrancisco.com** GOALS 1\. Acquire familiarity with the media and the tools\. 2\. Develop drawing\, and blending skills\. 3\. Developing the ability to work with layers\. 4\. Increase students' ability to perceive and match values\. OVERVIEW Our art teacher will offer a demonstration, guiding students step-by-step, from start to finish. You will create a simple landscape pastel drawing to take home at the end of class. No drawing experience is necessary since the course is for beginners, and we will provide all the materials. SPECIFICATIONS In this course, the student will draw with soft pastels from a selected photo reference, using a light mid-tone paper surface, and blending tools. The mid-tone surface allows the student to add value when making the colors darker and subtract value when making them lighter. Working in both directions will add a natural and realistic character to the drawing. The student will start with a simple sketch, using lines to create a basic shape while considering the proportions. Then the student will find and apply the values to the drawing using analogous soft pastel colors, creating areas of colors indicating light and shadow. The student will be using blending tools to create a color gradient while working on layering the soft pastel colors. Lastly, we will create a shadow for the object in the background and use lighter colors to reveal the illumination source.

Neurographic Drawing- *free* hybrid class

Neurographic Drawing- *free* hybrid class

I've been using neurographic art to manage fatigue, brain fog, and stress with impressive results! You can use whatever you have on hand to do this. You basically need paper, a pencil or marker to make lines, and something to lay down color with. Colored pencils are a popular choice. Recommended supplies below; supplies provided for those joining in person. After an introduction to the process, I'll guide us in making a drawing together. The rest of the time we’ll have chit chat and draw in community. I really like using one very thin and one regular sharpie (because it's oil based and doesn't run if I use a water-based media for color) and then guoache paints, which are very similar to acrylics or watercolors. You might also like to have round, traceable objects on hand (paper towel rolls, tape rolls, or circle stencils) if you think you'll want to include perfect circles. (I like to.) For those joining in person, stencils, watercolors and Sharpies will be on offer. If you'd like to buy the same supplies that I personally like, I recommend: -mixed media paper or watercolor paper but any paper is fine! -simple acrylic paints or watercolors and a brush -Sharpies in black- one fine tip and one regular -circle stencil: https://a.co/d/07EFHc7E The Zoom link will be the same one as our regular zoom sessions. Text me if you need it! 415 425 9070 When joining us in person, please be vaccinated or masked and avoid chemical fragrances. If you have any symptoms of illness, please join via Zoom instead. Please feel free to text me with any questions, especially at the last minute as I'm not likely to see Meetup messages. 415 425 9070 This class is free as part of herchurch's tactile spirituality initiative.
