Bring a Song: A Music Listening Night

Bring a Song: A Music Listening Night

Fri, Jul 17, 5:00 PM
From The Discussion Experiment - Berlin
4.6

**Please note that we invite people through different channels, so there are more attendees than you can see here :)** In The Discussion Experiment we usually meet to talk about relevant political, philosophical and personal topics, but sometimes we just want to have fun, therefore: What can we discover when we don’t just listen to music while doing something else, but as a group and in silence? What will catch our attention and how does the group setting change the experience? At this event, we’ll take some time to listen to different songs, let them have an effect on us, and share whatever we care to put out there. After each piece, we’ll take about five minutes to share our impressions. You can spontaneously suggest songs to listen to but don’t stress about choosing the „right“ song! From the most sophisticated masterpiece of music history to Aqua’s Barbie Girl, you can suggest whatever you are curious about that night. Or, in fact, you can just listen and not contribute actively, if that’s what you prefer. Join us, it will be fun. Anyone and everyone is welcome! **This is a paid event. Entry costs 5€ plus a fee that meetup charges.** It is free however for regular guests (if you have been to 2 or more events) and you are also very welcome to join for free, if you currently have to be careful with money. DM us in that case. **FAQ** ***What can I expect from the event?*** Each event is a an experiment so it’s difficult to predict exactly how it will play out. This time it is all about listening to music together in silence and then share impressions. If we have more people than time for songs, we’ll draw lots to decide who gets to suggest one. We want this to be a relaxed event. It’s not about picking out particularly unique or sophisticated songs to impress others. Any song you’re curious to hear the group’s thoughts on is good enough. ***Will the audio quality be amazing?*** No 🙂 It will be fine. We will stream the music and use ordinary speakers, so if you are a super duper hifi kind of person you might be disappointed. ***Do I have to speak? Do I have to suggest a song?*** No. It’s perfectly fine to just listen. You can decide for yourself at any time how active you want to be and will not be asked to speak. However, there might be a name round in the beginning. ***Who is this event for?*** This event is for anyone who is curious about it. We aim to create spaces where people of all ages, identities, and backgrounds feel welcome. You don’t need to prepare anything, have strong opinions, or be extroverted to take part. ***What’s the duration of the event?*** Each event lasts between 1.5 and 2 hours. Feel welcome to stay a bit longer to finish the snacks, chat with other participants, and deepen the conversation. ***Is the venue wheelchair accessible?*** The venue is on the ground floor and accessible with wheelchairs. However, there are unfortunately no wheelchair-accessible bathrooms! ***What is "The Discussion Experiment"*** The Discussion Experiment is an ongoing series of events through which we continuously test methods that foster more meaningful and inspiring group conversations. Among other things, we experiment with techniques that slow down discussions, improve clarity, and support participants in expressing their ideas more effectively. This event however is less about discussing and more about exploring music together. This event is co-organized by Kirstin Müller. Read more about the whole project [on our website](http://%5Bhttps://diskussions-experiment.de/en/home/%5D(https://diskussions-experiment.de/en/home/) "\[https://diskussions-experiment.de/en/home/\](https://diskussions-experiment.de/en/home/)"). The project is run by Igor Don and Maria Scholze.

🎉 2nd Anniversary Picnic – Two Fantastic Folding Years 🧺

🎉 2nd Anniversary Picnic – Two Fantastic Folding Years 🧺

Sun, Aug 23, 1:00 PM
From Origami Crafters in Berlin
4.9

In late August 2024, a tiny Berlin origami meetup quietly came to life... Since then, hundreds of folds, chats, experiments, collaborations, and spontaneous moments later… here we are marching towards our **SECOND anniversary** already!! 🤩 To mark this occasion, we are gonna throw a relaxed summer celebration — ideally outdoors again, with sunshine, blankets, snacks and good vibes somewhere in Berlin 🧺☀️ The final location is not yet finalised, but the spirit of the day is simply bringing people together and celebrating the past two years together! 🤗 A simple agenda for your reference: 1. **Bring and share whatever you like** – food, drinks, cutlery, music gears, card games, or extra paper. No rules – the sky is the limit! 2. **Gather and set up a cozy picnic spot together** – if you own a picnic blanket, please bring one along! 3. **A moment to look back & ahead** – community storytelling, memories and reflections, hopes for the year ahead (surprises and chaos might be included, but that's part of the fun, right? 👀) 4. **(Optional) Origami show time** – bring your favorite model, tell us the story behind it, share folding tips and/or replicas with the group! And truly: thank you for helping shape this community into such a welcoming, creative, and alive little corner of Berlin. Every person who attended an event, taught a fold, hosted a meetup, helped newcomers, or simply spent an afternoon folding with us became part of this story. More details coming soon — but for now, save some space in your calendar for a very special summer gathering 🥳 Warm greetings to each and everyone of you, Shiyi

Brunch, Lecture & Many Shades of Grès Fashion Becomes Art Exhibition

Brunch, Lecture & Many Shades of Grès Fashion Becomes Art Exhibition

Sat, Jul 18, 9:30 AM
From Berlin Ladies Art Culture
4.9

Join us for a thought-provoking Saturday exploring the women who turned fashion into art — from the ateliers of Paris to a landmark exhibition here in Berlin. 📋 **Agenda** 🥐 **Brunch & Lecture: When Art Meets Fashion** — We'll meet for a cosy brunch with croissants, viennoiserie, and coffee/tea — included in the participation fee. Alongside, I'll trace the women who turned fashion into art — from Rose Bertin, Marie Antoinette's "Minister of Fashion," to Schiaparelli and Chanel, and through to Iris van Herpen today — showing how they used cloth the way sculptors use stone, and challenged what fashion was allowed to mean. 🖼️ **Many Shades of Grès: Fashion Becomes Art at Kunstgewerbemuseum**: Then we'll head to the Kulturforum for the first exhibition of its kind in the German-speaking world dedicated to Madame Grès — one of the most important couturières of the 20th century, who once said her scissors were her most important tool. The show brings together 25 of her draped, sculptural gowns alongside ancient sculpture and paintings from the Antikensammlung and Gemäldegalerie — placing her work in direct dialogue with the classical forms that inspired it. 📅 **Date & Time:** Saturday, 18.07 · 11:30 📍 **Brunch location:** Exact address shared with attendees 1 day before the event 📍 **Exhibition:** Kunstgewerbemuseum, Kulturforum, Johanna und Eduard Arnhold Platz, 10785 Berlin 💶 **Participation Fee:** 30 EUR (brunch included; exhibition entry not included — tickets available at the museum) 📌 **RSVP required** — intimate group, spots are limited ✅ **Event Info & FAQ** 🕐 **How long will it last?** The full experience runs approximately 4–5 hours, including brunch, lecture, and exhibition visit. 💶 **Payment — How do I pay?** Participation fee is paid on the day — cash or PayPal.
