Nauti Sketch Club: Life Drawing

Welcome to our Nauti Sketch Club! Our creative community hub and warehouse workspace in Forest Lodge/Glebe hosts monthly life drawing nights, complete with an optional workshop. Gather your friends, sit back, and enjoy drinks and snacks (BYO) while you spend the evening drawing the nude human figure from a professional live model. We are a branch of **Tenshinshō-den Katori Shintō-ryū**, training under the **Shinbukan Dōjō in Narita, Japan**, one of Japan’s oldest classical martial traditions (*koryū bujutsu*), preserving techniques passed down for over five centuries. Our group welcomes individuals with a sincere interest in traditional martial arts and a commitment to long-term, disciplined study. Training is non-commercial — fees are minimal, the **first week is free**, and **parking is available**. Sessions are held **every Tuesday, except NSW public holidays**. To start, all you need is **comfortable clothing**, better if it is a keikogi and hakama. Equipment is provided for beginners, and guidance will be given later if you continue training seriously. Practice begins with **kenjutsu** using the *bokutō* (wooden sword) and progresses to **iaijutsu** (using a *iaitō*). Later we also study **bō** (staff) and **naginata** (glaive). After several years, practitioners may train in **nitō-ryū** (dual swords), **kodachi** (short sword), **yari** (spear), and other parts of the curriculum. Please note: the **Meetup member count does not reflect actual attendance** — our core group is small, dedicated, and focused on authentic training.
