Mandarin Language Exchange

This edition of the meetup will be at Cafe Luxxe Manhattan Beach! The pier and oceanfront are walking distance from here for those looking to explore before or after the meetup. There is also a Manhattan Beach Hometown Fair to check out this weekend. This is a welcoming, supportive environment to learn and practice Mandarin conversation and any other language you wish to learn or share. Please feel free to bring any learning materials you’re working on, language questions you have, a notebook or whiteboard and marker. See you there! Parking: street parking can be very limited, but there are a few public parking structures nearby, including near the Manhattan Beach Library and Joselyn Community Center. 🇫🇷 Short French Stories in Your Inbox (Not a Meetup Event)

**Bonjour à tous,** I'm excited to introduce a new feature for our French-speaking community: **a French Reading Series delivered directly to your inbox.** Every two weeks, I'll share a short French story designed to help you build vocabulary, improve comprehension, and stay connected to the language through regular reading. The stories will start out simple and gradually become more challenging as the series progresses. There are **50 stories in total**, taking you from short beginner-friendly texts to longer stories with more advanced vocabulary and structures. A few suggestions: * Read the story once for overall understanding. * Don't worry about translating every word. * Try reading the story aloud to practice pronunciation and fluency. * Consider recording yourself reading each story. By the time you reach Story 50, you'll be able to compare your recordings and see how much you've progressed! Whether you're a beginner or an advanced learner, the goal is simple: spend a little time with French regularly and enjoy the journey. **Bonne lecture et à bientôt ! 🇫🇷📚**

Cantonese Families Meetup #6

Hi all! Come hang out in the park again. We'll be doing circle time again, earlier this time. Trying out a morning meetup on the westside! (subject to change if I get enough protest about this). Cantonese circle time will be 15-20 minutes, with some short songs, story time, and perhaps a short activity. These will all be designed to be engaging for a variety of ages (mainly thinking \~1-6yo). Be prepared to circle up with your kids and help facilitate hopefully a fun and enriching short program! The rest of the time will be free time for play, chat, and community building. Cantonese is always encouraged, but there's no pressure. Picnic blanket recommended but no fret if you show up without one. **1 RSVP per family** Whether or not you're bringing your fam, please RSVP for just yourself to leave space for others to RSVP (we're capped by Meetup to 10 RSVP guests). **Intentions:** * Create a fun, friendly, and supportive community * Improve each other's Cantonese by providing more opportunities to speak and learn - both for parents and kids * Bond with other Cantonese-speaking parents (or non-Canto parents trying to learn) and share the joys and challenges of trying to raise Cantonese-speaking humans * Normalize Cantonese for our kids by creating a place where other kids also speak Cantonese * Promote Cantonese language and culture, and both surface and serve the Canto-speaking community scattered throughout LA * Share tips and Canto resources **If you can't make this date/time, but are interested in the group, please message me.
