Building the wrong things faster. AI and the Build Trap
Tue, May 26, 8:00 AM**đ˘ Hosted at:** Fabric Group **đ Building the Wrong Thing Faster: AI and the Build Trap** AI has dramatically compressed the time it takes to build software. But it hasn't stopped us building products that nobody wants. If anything, it's accelerated the problem - to the point we've invented a new word for the output: ***slop***. Drawing on observations from Brendan's consulting work and conversations with friends at ***Google, Meta and Spotify***, He'll explore how this ***isn't really a new problem*** and why now, more than ever, we need human centricity, sound product strategy and product discovery. **đ¤ Speakers:** ***Brendan Marsh*** is a Product & Org Advisor and Director at ***Organa***, where he helps organisations improve product strategy, org design and execution at scale. He previously served as ***Chief Product Officer*** of a mental health non-profit and spent five years at ***Spotify*** during its hyper-growth phase, first as an ***Agile Coach*** supporting innovation and product discovery teams and later as a ***Product Manager*** responsible for the Mac and Windows clients (40M+ MAU). ***Ruben Cardoso*** is the ***Head of Product & Design*** at ***Fabric Group***. An experienced UX/UI designer specialising in product design and delivery, with a strong track record running discovery-to-delivery cycles for large enterprise clients. ***Dzmitry Yaltykhau*** is the ***Delivery Practice Lead*** at ***Fabric Group.*** Leads large-scale product design and delivery programs end-to-end from presales through discovery, build and rollout while driving best practices, coaching and AI-accelerated ways of working across the team. **đ Agenda:** Arrival and light refreshments Featured Talk Panel discussion with contributions from Fabric and the audience

Coffee + Conversation = Connection
Sun, Jun 7, 12:00 AMLetâs catch up over coffee and food and play with the Art of Conversation cards! For those new to the Art of Conversation cards, they serve as an invitation to more in depth and meaningful conversation. Often going deeper than small talk, but how deep you want to go is up to you. An example of some questions youâll find on the cards includes: âď¸ Who is a person from your past that taught you something you still use today? âď¸ What is a belief you held five years ago that you disagree with now? âď¸ You can go to the past or the future, which one would you choose and why? I like to keep the group small (about six people) to allow for genuine connection to emerge. See you there!

Influencing change with science as your friend
Thu, May 28, 8:00 AM**Your workshop:** Product managers are often working from incomplete information - a customer or leader asks for a change, but the real need underneath it isn't always clear. And even when ideas are strong and teams invest real effort, there's no guarantee that what gets shipped will actually change behaviour or become part of everyday practice. This workshop is an opportunity to slow down for an hour and explore how behavioural and implementation science can help design the human side of your work. From understanding what people are really trying to do, through to validating ideas, bringing your team along, and measuring impact that goes beyond the pilot phase. We'll work through some practical frameworks and implementation science strategies for influencing change. You'll also have time to apply these to something from your own work and share with the group. Come ready to think, discuss, and leave with something you can actually use. **Our workshop lead:** [Dr. Alex Waddell](https://www.linkedin.com/in/alexandrawaddell/) is a behavioural and implementation scientist and the founder of CoFormed, a consultancy that partners with expert teams to turn excellent ideas into real-world impact. Alex brings expertise across behavioural science, implementation science, and service design to help teams design the human side of change by understanding what drives behaviour, what gets in the way, and what makes something part of everyday practice. **Our Host:** Zendesk https://www.zendesk.com

Cultural Walk along the Yarra @Coffee/Lunch at Abbotsford Convent Bakery
Sun, Jun 7, 12:00 AMJoin me at the historic Abbotsford Convent for a relaxed walk following the Yarra Trail to the traditional crossing point at Dights Falls. We'll have time to take in the cultural significance of this meeting place on the River, enjoy quiet conversation together and make new friends. Heading upstream we'll cross the Merri Creek where it flows into the Yarra and make our way to Deep Rock with its sheer granite backdrop. Further along the trail we'll have fun together crossing the Kane's suspension bridge. The riverbank return takes us beside the Collingwood Children's Farm and into the tranquil gardens surrounding the Abbotsford Convent. We'll finish up at the Convent Bakery to socialise and enjoy a coffee and our lunch together. **Agenda** I will meet you at 10am just inside the front gate of the Abbotsford Convent on St Heliers Street. We'll head off at 10.15am to join the Yarra Trail and walk beside the Yarra to Dights Falls. From there we will follow the trail to Kane's Bridge before making our way back through the Abbotsford Convent gardens to the bakery. We can take time to socialise and enjoy coffee and lunch together. This is an easy to moderate walk along a gravel path. The distance is about 7km all up and will take us around 1hr 45mins. **Location** If coming by public transport you can catch the Mernda or Hurstbridge line train to Victoria Park Station. The train station is a 10-15 minute walk to the Convent. Or you can catch the 200 or 207 bus down Johnston Street to the Clarke Street stop. The bus stop is a 3-5 minute walk to the Convent. The Abbotsford Convent car parking fee on the weekend is $7.50 for the first hour and $2 per hour after that. When you RSVP, please click Attend on the event page and I will be in touch via Direct Messages. I will also be available in the Event Comments on the day.
