For the next **PHDs & Pints**, we're going inside one of the most fascinating applications of artificial intelligence: **how AI is changing the way we study, detect, and understand cancer.** Join **Dr. Akash Parvatikar, Director of Artificial Intelligence at Biobase and PhD in Computational Biology**, for a look at the rapidly evolving world of digital pathology — where traditional microscope slides are transformed into massive digital images that can be analyzed using machine learning. Akash has spent his career at the intersection of **AI, biology, and pathology**. His research has included developing explainable AI systems for challenging breast cancer diagnoses and studying why even trained pathologists can sometimes interpret the same tissue differently. Today, he works on AI-driven biological data platforms designed to help researchers make sense of increasingly complex biomedical data. We'll explore questions like: **What does AI actually "see" when it looks at cancer? Can a machine recognize patterns a doctor might miss? Why can two pathologists look at the same tissue and reach different conclusions? Could AI help make diagnoses more consistent?
