"Is it practical?" That question has probably run more of your decisions over the last thirty years than you'd guess. It's a good question. It's just not the only one. This month we're making the case for taking your own curiosity seriously, even when it doesn't come with a plan attached. You don't need to have read anything. You just need to show up willing to notice what you've been putting off for "someday." In this session, you'll name one thing you're genuinely curious about, without qualifying it or explaining why it matters. Then you'll leave with one small, low stakes way to pay attention to it this week. Not a project. Not a commitment. Just a little bit of following. Whether this is your first time with us or you've been with us since the beginning, you're exactly on time. There's nothing to catch up on.

Columbus Sketching the Streets Weekly Social

We are meeting up this week for our regular sketching session to capture a bit of Columbus on paper. Whether you are a seasoned artist or someone who just likes to doodle in a notebook, this is a low-pressure space to get outside, observe our surroundings, and spend some time drawing alongside others. We do not have a formal instructor, so feel free to bring whatever supplies you are comfortable with and work at your own pace. The goal is simply to get out of the house and connect with people in the neighborhood who share an interest in sketching. We will spend about an hour or so working on our drawings, followed by a chance to share what we have worked on if you feel like it, or just chat and grab a drink or a snack afterward. It is a casual group, and everyone is welcome to join regardless of their skill level. Drunken Philosophy: Is Philosophy practical or or just esoteric?

Welcome to Drunken Philosophy, a casual, curious, social discussion club. Come grab a drink and a seat at The Oracle. Not going to go real deep with this one. Most people generally consider philosophy as weird, esoteric ideas that don't apply to "real life." Of course we in this group know better--right? But seriously, do you consider the study of philosophy to be more of an intellectual exercise to challenge your thinking and attitudes or do you study it to learn valid, effective ways of thinking and acting to improve your "real life" and deal with your "real life"? I suspect that most people attending this group practice and consider their study to be a mix of the above. If that is the case, which direction do you lean and to what extent do you lean that way? Engage and welcome any new attendees!

Dog Walk at Franklin Park Conservatory

Dog Walk - come enjoy the beautiful grounds at Franklin Park Conservatory with or without your dog! We’ll meet on the path near the entrance. Paths are paved and nicely maintained but sunny! The loop I take is approx. 2mi around. There are plenty of shortcuts back if that’s too far or we can take it twice if the dogs are up to it. Please keep all dogs leashed as per park rules, thanks!
