*We did this ride recently in April however that was midweek so let's repeat it on Saturday at a slightly slower pace and still with northerly wind assistance* 🙂 A Saturday ride from **Craigieburn** to the City showcasing the beautiful **Broadmeadows Valley** and the vast network of bike paths up there. Coffee stop after visiting the lookout at Mt Aitken. **Forecast:** 16°C. Partly cloudy. Medium chance of showers (2-9 mm) most likely later in the day and evening. Winds northerly 15 to 25 km/h https://reg.bom.gov.au/places/vic/craigieburn/forecast/detailed/#d2026-07-11 **Distance**: 42 km. Some local roads to start but mostly on bikepaths **Getting there**: **1)** Catch a **train from Flinders St** (10:16am) or **Southern Cross** (10:20am) to **Craigieburn** (arriving 10:59am) where I'll meet you at the station and direct you to the station restrooms 😄 *We generally travel together in the last carriage but up to you.* *(I won't be joining you on the train as I live out this way and can ride across to Craigieburn)* **or 2)** Meet me out there before 11am **Metro Trains Planned Works** \- Check your local line if required https://www.metrotrains.com.au/planned-works/ **Route map & GPS files**: [https://ridewithgps.com/routes/50151699](https://ridewithgps.com/routes/50151699) \* \ Actual route may vary on the day* **Note**: We climb a little from Craigieburn railway station to Mt Aitken to see the view. The ride to town is mostly a gradual descent with some easy climbs on the trails. **Bike**: Suitable for nearly all types of bike / e-bikes **Speed**: 22-25 kmh typically. Not too fast and not too slow **Lunch**: Bring lunch or you can buy it at Hothlyn Bakery (3km from the start) and carry it another 3km to Mt Aitken Lookout to eat.
