11th Annual Rockaway Ride
Sat, Jul 25, 3:00 PM**REGISTER HERE TO ATTEND [https://joinoutsiders.com/events](https://joinoutsiders.com/events)** **RESCHEDULED due to RAIN. The new date is July 25th** The Rockaway Ride is Outsiders' flagship summer tradition: a 20-mile journey from downtown Manhattan to the shores of Rockaway Beach. You'll cross the Brooklyn Bridge, wind through some of New York's most iconic and under-explored neighborhoods, and make a pit stop in Red Hook before pushing all the way out to Queens. And when you roll up to the beach, the real party begins. **THE RIDE** This isn't a race. No spandex required, no carbon fiber in sight. Think jean shorts, commuter bikes, and good company. We roll at a social pace, which means plenty of time to take in the city, chat with the group, and actually enjoy the journey. The whole thing takes about 3 hours, and every mile is worth it. There's no better way to see New York than from a bike, and this route takes you through corners of the city that even lifelong locals have never explored. Starting at Unlimited Biking on Chambers St, you'll cross the **Brooklyn Bridge** and make your way to **Red Hook** for a stop at the legendary **Steve's Authentic Key Lime Pie**. From there, the route carries you up to **Prospect Park**, entering at 9th Street and cutting through one of Brooklyn's greatest treasures. You'll exit onto **Ocean Ave** and head south through **Midwood**, into **Marine Park**, and then push east through the Rockaways all the way to the sand. Twenty miles. Eight neighborhoods. One unbeatable finish line. 📍 Full route map: *[View Here](https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/2/viewer?mid=1RulYNlE1mtprWP1KlOzpo1ne0KawUAY&ll=40.640321227760346%2C-73.9144614&z=12)* **RED HOOK STOP** Our mid-ride stop in Red Hook is worth the miles on its own. Pick up a slice from **Steve's Key Lime Pie**, a neighborhood institution and one of the best bites in all of New York. Don't skip it. **THE BEACH** This is where the afternoon takes off. Once you hit the sand, the ride is done and the party is on. We'll be posted up at Rockaway Beach 86 for the rest of the afternoon: swimming in the waves, playing beach volleyball, and soaking up the sun with good music going all day. Grab food and drinks at **Ripper's**, one of the best beach bars in the city, right on the boardwalk. Complimentary drinks on us in our beach coolers to celebrate another year on the road. 🍻 This is the finish line, and it looks a lot like summer. **NEED A BIKE?** Rent through our partners at Unlimited Biking at a discounted rate. **They'll even pick it up at the beach so you ride home free**. Urban Athletics: Pedals & Pizza – Manhattan
Sun, Aug 2, 3:30 PMDuring this cycling series we'll explore New York City one neighborhood—and one slice—at a time. Each ride takes us to a different borough or neighborhood in search of the best pizza, hidden gems, neighborhood institutions, and legendary slice shops. Every event is a new route, new flavors, and a new excuse to ride. Our first ride kicks things off in Manhattan. We'll cruise through some of Manhattan's most iconic neighborhoods, stopping at several pizzerias to sample slices, compare notes, and answer the question that has divided New Yorkers for decades: Who really makes the best pizza in the city? Spoiler: We probably won't agree. That's why this is a series. **The Ride** * Approximately 20 miles * 4 or so pizza stops * Relaxed, social pace with frequent breaks * Plenty of opportunities for photos (of the city and the pizza) **Tentative Pizzerias** * L’industrie * Scarr's Pizza) * Mama's Too! * Patsy's (Route and stops may change depending on group size, weather, and wait times.) **Cost** Everyone pays for their own slices and drinks. The goal isn't to eat an entire pizza at every stop—it's to sample a variety. Pace yourself... this is a marathon, not a mozzarella sprint. **Bring** * A bike in good working condition * Helmet (strongly encouraged) * Water bottle * Bike lock * Cash or card for pizza * An appetite and a sense of adventure **Who should join?** Anyone comfortable riding in NYC traffic at a relaxed pace. This isn't a race—nobody gets dropped unless they secretly stop for a slice without telling the group. Whether you're a cyclist who loves pizza or a pizza lover willing to pedal for your next slice, this meetup is all about good food, great company, and exploring the city from the best seat possible—a bike. Come hungry. Ride happy. And remember... **Calories consumed while biking between pizzerias are scientifically impossible to count!**
