We are a friendly bunch of locals. Some of us are new to board games, whilst others have a few years experience of playing and teaching our games. We always try to make newcomers feel welcome… come and check us out! Wednesday nights start off with a mix of quick, lightweight fun stuff as people arrive. Then we move onto playing a wide range of games to suit the tastes of whoever shows up on the night. We often revert back to lighter games before we head home. We usually have around 12 to 24 people turn up, so don’t believe the attendance numbers you see on here… We have a lovely WhatsApp community that you can join when you attend this event. Territories: Pub Race | London 20s and 30s

**It's back! On 6th November, we're back with one of our most unique evenings of Friday night fun... our latest “Territories” Pub Race 🌍** Like our other board game-inspired pub races, this live-action strategy game takes inspiration from the classic board game Risk, reimagined across 32 pubs throughout London. This team game is played on a virtual map and each pub is a territory on the map, that can be claimed or conquered ⚔️ **Over the evening, your mission is to build the biggest empire in 2 hours.** To claim one, you simply visit the pub as a team and have at least one person in your team buy a drink (soft drinks included). Every extra drink you buy will add yet more “troops” to your territory to help fortify it 🍻 This is crucial as if you fail to properly strengthen your territories - these can also be **conquered** (i.e. stolen) from other teams who visit the same pub and outnumber your troop numbers. Alongside the race - there will also be fun, themed challenges at each pub that you can complete to earn extra bonus troops for your garrison 📸 Some territories are worth more than others, and there are bonuses for controlling entire continents… so you’ll need to plan your route, pick your battles, and think like a pub-crawling warlord. Hi everyone! (pre-pandemic information) If you like to play modern board, card and dice games, and to meet new people, then join us on Monday evenings from 6pm until the pub closes around 11pm. Feel free to bring your own games if you have them, but don't worry if you don't as regular members will bring some along. And of course, we'll teach you how to play them if you don't know already. You work late? No worries - you can join us any time before closing (11pm), so if you don't arrive at 6pm (attendees tend to arrive around 6:30 or 7pm), don't worry :-) Everyone comes and goes when they like, so it is possible that you may be the first to arrive or the last to leave, Please write in the comments what time you expect to arrive at the pub, so we can try to avoid anyone having to wait alone for long. We are a relaxed and friendly group, made up of both natives and foreigners, of locals and those living further afield, happy to welcome newbies and regulars. Events are free to attend, but it is respectable to the public venues we hold them at if you can buy at least one drink or some food while you are present, just like anyone else at the pub would do. If you would like to contribute towards the costs of running of this group, feel free to buy the host(s) a drink of their choice when you see them, for which they'd be very grateful. This saves money that can be put towards the Meetup subscription fees and buying the games that we all play. The George is a reasonably-priced 'local' pub in the Docklands, near Canary Wharf, just 1 minute walk from Crossharbour DLR station, or about 15 minutes walk from the Canary Wharf Jubilee line station.
