Happening in the space Let's share all of the cool things we've working on! 5MoF, or 5 Minutes of Fame, is where hackers get the opportunity to present what they've been working on to an audience of fellow hackers and curious, awesome people. With enough people, we generally let everyone get to speak, but given we can talk about our things forever, there will definitely be an after-hours hangout sesh. No need to bring a project, just come and get inspired! * **WIKI PAGE & Speaker Signup Info:** [http://noisebridge.net/wiki/5mof](http://noisebridge.net/wiki/5mof) * **DISCORD Signup & Planning:** [https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Discord](https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Discord) * **Discord Channel:** #5mof-5-minutes-of-fame **10 MINUTES OF GAME:** We are starting a new GDC-style speaker series to feature gaming enthusiasts and game developers passionate about their favorite games, their creation experiences, and gaming as a medium. * **WHEN:** 10MoG will start at 6PM before every 5MoF and is open to anyone who wants to talk about gaming or game development! * **Discord Channel:** #5mof-5-minutes-of-fame * **Wiki Page:** [https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Ten_Minutes_of_Game](https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Ten_Minutes_of_Game)

Building for Resilience: What Makes a Company Hard to Kill?

Building for Resilience: What Makes a Company Hard to Kill?

Sat, Sep 26, 1:00 AM
From San Francisco Startup Traction & Funding Network
4.5

What makes a company hard to kill when the technology behind it keeps changing? And how do you know if what you're building will survive the next twelve months? 🔹The old playbook doesn't work anymore. The honest answer is that it depends on what you build. 🔹In every market: hardware, software or other, durability comes from something different. 🔹Most founders are taught a version of the game that was built for someone else. Without enough market cycles to draw from, it is hard to know which old rules still hold or where they break down. **❯ Guest Speakers include:** * Jeni Chang (Managing Director, Founder Institute) * Ryan Eppley (CEO & cofounder, Root Access) * Daniel Theobald * Linda Hong Cheng (Founder, Abstract Atomic) On September 25, [Founders Institute](https://fi.co/san-francisco) and [Founders Guild](https://foundersguild.org/) are bringing together founders, investors and operators who have watched markets break, shift and rebuild to answer one question: ***what makes a company hard to kill?*** **❯ Who Should Attend:** * Pre-seed and early-stage founders in hardware, software, or biotech, far enough in to want the thing pressure-tested by people who've seen it before * You built something that works, and you can't yet say what stops someone rebuilding it in a weekend * The ground under your category is moving and you're trying to work out how much * Acquired in two years, or built to last; you haven't picked, and you're starting to see those are two different companies **❯ Speakers**: * **[Ryan Eppley](https://www.linkedin.com/in/ryan-eppley/)**: CEO of Root Access * **[Jeni Chang](https://www.linkedin.com/in/changjeni/)**: Managing Director, Founder Institute; Investor, New Energy Financials * **[Linda Hong Cheng](https://www.linkedin.com/in/lindahongcheng/)**: Founder of Abstract Atomic * **[Daniel Theobald](https://www.linkedin.com/in/daniel-theobald/)**: Founder, Vecna Robotics; Co-founder, MassRobotics; Founder, Mekable * And more to be announced... **About us**: **[Founder Institute San Francisco/Oakland](https://fi.co/san-francisco)** AI rewrote the rules of company building. The playbook has changed. *Skills are no longer the barrier. Direction is*. At [Founder Institute](https://fi.co/san-francisco), we’ve merged our structured programs with AI agents that help founders do the work, not just learn how to do it. **Learn More: [https://fi.co/aifounder](https://fi.co/aifounder)** Interested in our program? **Meet the Team: [Jeni](https://www.linkedin.com/in/changjeni/)** & **[Lucas](https://www.linkedin.com/in/lucroot/)** \- come say "hi" 🌞 . **Partner & Co-Host:** **[Founder's Guild](https://foundersguild.org/)** A global community of entrepreneurs building companies on their own terms and reshaping startup culture in the process. Rooted in Silicon Valley but open to everyone, we connect founders who recognize that entrepreneurship is both a craft and a responsibility. Improving financial outcomes and quality of life for founders worldwide. **❯❯ Location is TBD. RSVP at [https://fi.co/e/405293/meetup](https://fi.co/e/405293/meetup) to receive further details.**

CHM - Soldering practice and circuit testing with an oscilloscope Part 2

CHM - Soldering practice and circuit testing with an oscilloscope Part 2

Tue, Sep 15, 2:00 AM
From Noisebridge Hackerspace
4.8

Build a function generator and practice soldering at the same time. With a soldering kit that we provide, you will assemble a circuit that generates sine-waves, triangle-waves, and square-waves. Then you will test the circuit with an oscilloscope. This kit is a little above the beginner level, so we plan to extend this project into a second week. Once your function generator is working, you can pair up with another workshop participant and observe two function generators sending waves to an oscilloscope in "X-Y" mode. This pattern is called a Lissajoues Figure.
