Flexible inflatable boat tour on the Reuss from Bremgarten to Mellingen
Bahnhof Bremgarten, Migrolino, Bremgarten, CHBeautiful river journey starting from Bremgarten – the most beautiful stretch of the Reuss The section between Bremgarten and Mellingen is probably the most beautiful and varied section of the Reuss. Small rapids promise a splashy fun, while the calmer sections in between allow enough time for drifting and swimming.
The River Reuss is a premier destination for inflatable boating ("Böötle" or Gummiboot) in Switzerland. The most popular and stunning section begins at the power plant in Bremgarten and flows through lush nature reserves and light rapids.
Popular Routes & Durations
- Bremgarten to Gnadental: ~8 km (approx. 1.5 hours on the water).
- Bremgarten to Mellingen: ~12 km (approx. 2 hours of paddling). A very popular half-day stretch.
- Bremgarten to Gebenstorf: ~26 km (approx. 3.5–4 hours of continuous floating)
- Bremgarten to Stilli 4,5h.
To bring along:
- Your inflatable boot and paddle or you organize with others to find a seat
- Swimming gear including towel
- Shorts, T-shirt and sandals or water shoes for on the boats (will probably get wet... ) or dry (and warm) clothes for after the tour
- Backpack or bag for transporting dry clothes
- Snack and drinks (no glass bottles)
- If necessary: sports band for your glasses, sunscreen
- Depending on weather, we recommend you to bring synthetic sportswear to improve thermal insulation (no cotton).
- Good mood!
We meet you in Bremgarten at the power plant.
There you can inflate your boat and receive detailed safety instructions.
Essential Rules & Safety
To ensure a safe and legal trip on the Reuss, you must follow these Swiss regulations:- Wearing a life jacket at all times while on the water
- Avoiding unnecessary risks, such as swimming in areas with strong currents or near dangerous obstacles
- Stay within your skill level and avoid taking unnecessary risks.
- Labeling: Unregistered inflatable boats must be clearly marked with your name and address in a visible spot.
- No tying boats together: Never tie multiple boats together as it destroys your ability to maneuver.
- Never enter the Flachsee: The section near Unterlunkhofen (the Flachsee) is a strict bird sanctuary and strictly prohibited to boats. You must exit the river before this area!
- Equipment: Always bring a pump, a paddle per person, and a waterproof drybag for your valuables.
Enough time for paddling, drifting, swimming... and all that in the beautiful countryside of Central Switzerland.
Start: 10:00AM in Bremgarten at the power plant.
