York Albion Society

Hi everyone!
I'm in the process of establishing The Albion Society, a new independent cultural and intellectual society based here in York, and I'm looking for people who might be interested in getting involved from the beginning.
The idea is to bring together people with an interest in British history, classic literature, philosophy, Christianity's influence on our culture, and the preservation of our historical and architectural heritage.
The Society has a broadly conservative and traditionalist outlook, but is entirely non-party-political and open to everyone, regardless of their personal political or religious beliefs. The aim is to encourage thoughtful discussion, learning and friendship.
Some of the things we're hoping to organise include:

• A monthly classic fiction book club
• Informal discussions on history, philosophy and culture
• Talks and guest speakers
• Visits to historical sites and places of interest around York
• Regular social evenings in traditional pubs

There's no membership fee, and you certainly don't need to be an academic or expert in any of these subjects — just someone with a genuine interest.
I'm currently planning a founders meeting, if this sounds like your sort of thing, I'd be delighted to hear from you.
