What we’re about
Want to meet fun and active people, socialize, and make lasting friendships? This is a smaller social group, so we tend to get to know each other better, and we have a blast at our events! Our events have been mostly West side focused - because that's where most of our members and I are based - but I do want to venture out to the East side more often - so East Siders send your suggestions!
GROUP POLICIES:
- You must have a profile picture with a clear view of your face and use your real first name to join. (You're photo must be of you, not a pic of just your pet, not an abstract art pic, etc.)
- As of May 1, 2025, dues are Dues are $4 per year if paid via Meetup or PayPal, and $3 if paying cash in person. Dues are used to support the Organizer fee of $300 per year. To better support keeping dues down, pay cash in person or via PayPal (message me if you want to pay via Paypal). Meetup takes 7.5% +.50 cents when you pay via Meetup, reducing the amount I can apply to the $300 annual organizer fee. Even after collecting dues and donations, I still pay around $200 per year, because many members in this group are dues waived. See the "More on Dues" section below for more info on how to become dues waived. Dues are NOT refundable!
- Members in good standing can host events - send me a message if interested!
- EVENTS AND POLICIES
- No discussion of politics or other divisive topics. Keep things friendly!
- Bad behavior at any event, in chats, in comments, or with organizer/event hosts will result in immediate removal and you will be banned from re-joining.
- If you RSVP you are expected to show up. If something comes up and you can't make it, it is super easy to just change your RSVP! See the Attendance Policy below
- You join and attend events at your own risk, and AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS Meetup, the Group Organizer, and the Event Hosts from any loss, liability, damage or cost, including court costs and attorney's fees, that they may incur due to your participation in said activity, WHETHER CAUSED BY NEGLIGENCE OF RELEASEES or otherwise.
- ATTENDANCE POLICY
- If there is a Wait List, Members and Trial Members in Good Standing will be given priority. Good Standing means you do not have a chronic history of No Shows, or very Late Dropping out. People with a history of No Shows, Very Late, and/or Chronic Late Dropping Out will be moved to the Wait List (if you haven't already been removed from the group!).
- MORE ON DUES:
- There is a path to becoming "Dues Waived": attend at least 4 events per year (after Dues Paid) or successfully Host an Event once a year.
- At some point, at the organizer's discretion, those who are Dues Waived and have not attended an Event in over a year could be moved back to the Dues Required (Awaiting Dues) category.
- After your trial period ends, if Dues aren't paid then Meetup will automatically drop you from the group and any events you registered for (you are put into "Awaiting Dues" status). To re-join and attend events you have to pay the Dues. Seven days and one day before a person's trial expires, Meetup will send a reminder to pay.
- Dues are NOT refundable, unless this group is dissolved within 3 months of paying your dues. Make sure you want to be in/stay in this group before you pay dues. Not attending any events is NOT a justifiable reason for requesting a dues refund, and dues will NOT be refunded. Violating a group policy which ends up in being removed from the group is NOT a justifiable reason for requesting a dues refund, and dues will NOT be refunded. Leaving the group after paying dues is NOT a justifiable reason for requesting a dues refund, and dues will NOT be refunded. The only time dues will be refunded is if this group is dissolved within 3 months of paying your dues.
