What we’re about
The Wekiva Wilderness Trust, is the non-profit Citizens Support Organization that supports the work of the three state parks that make up the Wekiva River Basin Parks - Wekiwa Springs, Lower Wekiva and Rock Springs. The WWT's mission is to promote educational and environmental aspects of the park and to work with the park staff to protect and preserve the almost 50,000 acres of the real Florida.
We will be hosting a family hike once a month! This is a short hike (unless otherwise stated on the event), usually about an hour, taking you thru some of our trails, and teaching you about the history of our beautiful park. This hike is open to all ages!
We will also be hosting weekly "Discovery Hours". In this "meetup" you will learn anything from Endangered Animals in our area, Florida Raptors, Reptile Exhibits, Edible Plants, and more! Some of the Discovery Hours are geared towards the little ones where we will have story time.
All events are free (other than the cost of admission to the park), and are open to all ages!
We can't wait to see everyone out there!

The Wekiva Wilderness Trust is holding its next basic survival boot camp on Saturday, May 3, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Rock Springs Run State Reserve in Sorrento, off State Road 46.
The course has been designed so that everyone knows what to do in case of an emergency. All the techniques are vital skills to use in the great outdoors. The boot camp will cover survival techniques, field first aid, foraging for food and water, hands-on building a shelter, plus rope, and basket weaving from natural materials, fire lighting techniques, and navigation.
Apart from water, bug spray, sunscreen, and lunch, each participant is asked to bring a knife, about 20 feet of strong string, cord, or similar, and two large black garbage bags.
The cost for the workshop is $10 a person (a donation to WWT) which will be collected on the day - cash only.
