See all- Hiking SLO: An Introduction to Local TrailsREI San Luis Obispo, San Luis Obispo, CA
Hello hikers. From Montaña de Oro to Pismo Preserve to the many morros, SLO County is full of great dayhiking and walking trails. If you’re new to the area or a local who wants to start hiking, join me at REI to learn about ten of our most common hikes. Based on my experience organizing hikes, I’ll cover:
- Routes we take often, from easy walks to challenging treks
- Plenty of photos and details on each
- Gear you need (and don’t)
- Microclimates and planning for weather
- Safety, laws, and common courtesy
This talk is intended for locals who want to start hiking, hikers new to the area, or anyone curious about the variety in our back yard. To join this event, you must sign up for free at REI’s website. Looking forward to guiding you around SLO’s local hikes.
- Casual Walk at Montaña de OroSpooner's Cove, Los Osos, CA
Heya hikers, join us as we enjoy a casual coastal walk at Montaña de Oro State Park just before sunset. We plan to follow the bluffs trail — an easy gravel road — from Spooner’s Cove to the Point Buchon junction and back. Bring water, sun protection, and jacket.
Optionally, those who feel hungry or thirsty after the walk can join us for dinner at Beerwood, 690 Santa Maria Ave, Baywood-Los Osos, CA 93402.
Rain cancels this event, but we can always hope.
