Jenks Lake - Dispersed Camping, Swimming, Kayaking, Exploring, Socializing Trip
Join us for a two-day camping adventure in Big Bear Lake near Jenks Lake. This is a casual and fun trip focused on exploring, camping, and enjoying the outdoors. Space is limited to 10 people, so sign up soon if you’re interested. This is a dispersed camping trip - meaning there are no toilets or bathrooms (you have to bring your own :)). We will be camping in the dispersed campsite off of Jenks Lake Rd. The campground is called East Flats Campground. We will be visiting the nearby Jenks Lake, so bring your fishing gear, kayak, inflatable paddleboard etc.
Trip Details
- Dates: Saturday, May 3 – Sunday, May 4
- Group Size: Limited to 10 people - Space is tight!
- Group Age: Adults 30 y.o.+ (no kids allowed)
- Campsite: East Flats Campground - Address: 1N84, Angelus Oaks, CA 92305
- There are 2-4 tent sites, but limited space for vehicles. Vans/personal vehicles are ok, but no trailers or RVs
- Cost: Free - bring your gear, food, drinks etc.
- Meeting Point: Park & Ride in Fallbrook (off Highway 76 & I-5) to caravan to the campsite
- Departure Time: 8:00 AM, Saturday if you want to leave as a group, but you are welcome to get there on your own. We will have a "Weekend Outside" logo posted at the entrance to our campsite so that you will know it's us.
What to Bring
- Camping gear (tent, sleeping bag, mattress, chair, headlamp, etc.)
- Food & drinks (bring enough for two days)
- A bundle of firewood per person
- Plenty of water
Need Gear?
If you don’t have camping gear, message me for gear options. I have tents, chairs, headlamps etc. I also have sleeping bags, but they cost extra since there's dry cleaning cost to it.
Trip Guidelines
- This is a fun, relaxed trip—no politics, and be respectful to everyone.
- Flexibility—you can join group activities or explore on your own.
- No kids (adults only), but friendly pets are welcome.
- You don’t have to stay the entire trip—come for as long as you’d like.
- I’ll be bringing an EZ-Up canopy for shade and group hangouts.
Additional details:
- The drive takes 1.45 to 2.0 hours
- Arrive at the campsite around 10:00AM
- Everyone is free to explore the area and the lake at your leisure
- Jenks Lake is a small lake, but offers nice hiking trails, you can bring your own kayak, fish (CA fishing license required) etc. You can ride a bike to the lake
- Bring your own drinks, socialize and make friends
