INTERMEDIATE TO DIFFICULT HIKE
Join us as we complete a loop, stopping first at Chadsey Lake and then Sumas Peak (Eastern Lookout). We will skip Taggart Peak. I have done this hike once before (and with a different starting point) but it should be a great hike! After the hike, we can stop for a drink/bite somewhere.
Length: 14 km round trip
Elevation Gain – 800 m
Hiking time – 5 - 6 hours

By going on this Meetup event, you acknowledge and agree that you are participating at your own risk and are entirely responsible for your own safety getting to and from the trailhead, on the hike, and during the course of the event. In case of accident, illness, or other incapacity, you agree to pay for your own medical and/or evacuation expenses, whether or not you have specifically authorized them. You also verify that you are in good health and are physically capable of carrying out this hike. Therefore, you agree to release the Meetup Group, the Organizer, the Meetup Host, and any affiliate from any and all liability for any loss, damage, expense or injury which may arise out of participation in the Meetup event, including during transportation to and from the event.
Please remember to pay your driver gas money ($10 to $15 per hour is pretty standard).
Directions
We will meet at the Sumas Mountain Lower Parking Lot. To reach the trailhead, take Highway #1 (Trans Canada Highway) east until you reach the town of Abbotsford. Take the Whatcom Road (Exit #95) turnoff and turn left, crossing over the highway overpass. Just after the overpass, make a right-hand turn onto North Parallel Road as it follows alongside the highway. After 2km, turn left onto Sumas Mountain Road. Continue along Sumas Mountain Road for 7.5 km. Turn right on to Batt Road and after 1 km, turn right on to Taggart Road. You will see the Sumas Mountain Lower Parking Lot in 850m.
